Ethan glared at Finn, “Shut your trap! Alice’s still family.” 

Chloe’s face twisted with jealousy. Alice, that little hussy, had cut ties with the family – what right did she have calling herself a Windham?

Alice snatched the invitation from Max’s hand.“Give it back after you’ve had a good look.” 

Max seethed. She’d verified the invitation; it was real, the name was correct. Looking at Chloe, she sneered, “And you Windhams are even qualified to be here?” 

Chloe smiled sweetly.“Oh, absolutely. My older brother was personally invited by Mrs. Parker.”

Ethan was speechless. Seeing Alice’s cold stare and hearing Finn’s words, a pang of unease hit -him. He realized Finn was wrong, and he’d been just as bad to Alice in the past.
