Alice remembered that school heartthrob, Garrett, who transferred from Washington. He was at wealthy young master from San Francisco, apparently trying to lay low after causing some trouble at his old school. He was high–profile, driving luxury cars, wearing designer clothes, and a skilled gamer. In her past life, after Chloe had taken her spot, Garrett had pursued Chloe, and they’d ended up together.. 

Alice chuckled as she casually stuffed the love letter into her desk without even glancing at it. She didn’t even mention anything about contact information. 

Chloe was seething.“Alice, why didn’t you open them and take 

look??” 

“I’ve gotten them before,” Alice replied. The last time she got love letters was back in elementary school, before her parents had their issues and before Chloe entered her life. Chloe felt a pang of resentment.“What’s she so proud of? Her expression darkened. How could Alice, who she had manipulated into a timid little quail, suddenly change so much? Was she trying to steal Garrett? 

After school, Alice packed her bag and left without a second thought. Chloe lingered for a while, then went over to grab all the love letters from Alice’s desk.

Alice lifted her eyelids slightly.“I don’t like it.” 

Noah’s expression was awkward.“If you don’t like it, I’ll exchange it for something else. What do you prefer?” 

After Alice refused the emerald necklace, Noah went out and bought a new one. Surely this would be acceptable, right? 

Alice could see he was trying to make amends, but the hurt she felt couldn’t just be erased with at piece of jewelry. 

Chloe saw the shift in Noah’s attitude; was he trying to reconcile with Alice? This wasn’t what she expected.

Chloe exclaimed in surprise, “Wow, this restaurant! Noah, you’re so biased! I asked you to take me here before, and you didn’t agree.” 

Alice glanced at the restaurant. In her past life, it was famous and exclusive, requiring membership. Still, many wealthy people took pride in having a membership there. It had probably just opened recently. 

Noah replied, “I was busy before; today I’m taking you both out.” 

“Noah, I’m riding on Alice’s coattails, but I’m still satisfied!” 

Chloe secretly took out her phone to snap a few pictures, ready to show off on social media. 

Noah looked at Alice; she wasn’t as excited as Chloe. 

As Alice waited for the elevator, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a figure on the second floor. 

Her gaze paused: was that Jack? 

She thought she might be mistaken, but that profile really looked like his! He was with a beautiful woman, long black hair and legs for days. 

Alice quickly averted her gaze, her heart racing.
