"Hey Sadie, honey! How was school?" Mom asked as I entered the back door. She was busy preparing dinner as I leaned to kiss her cheek.

"Hey mom? Can I ask you a question?" I asked, not bothering to answer her question as to how school was. Mom stopped tossing the salad and faced me.

"Sure sweetie. Shoot" she asked as she leaned to give all her attention to me.

"Was it weird? When you found out that grandma and grandpa were getting married, and you were gonna be step siblings with daddy?" I asked.

"I mean.. yeah. It was weird. I...went on a date with your dad, and literally the next day we found out that we're about to be step siblings" mom answered. I have heard this story a thousand times. You'd really think that after 16 years, they'd eventually stop telling me this story.

I mean, sure mum and dad didn't end up together, but everyone's on good terms. I have two mommies now. Katherine, and Kylie.

God, my dad really had the hots for girls whose name starts with 'K', right?

"And? How'd it go? How did you and dad.. y'know... do it?" I asked, making mom blush, before stopping what she was doing to face me with her head tilted.

"You just never get tired of hearing that story huh?" She asked. I rolled my eyes.

"I actually am" I answered, fading the smile off her face "I just need some perspective on the whole step siblings thing. As prep" I answered, then something clicked in her mind.

"Oh that's right! You're gonna meet the guy your mom's been seeing!" She said before letting out a laugh "Are you nervous? That this guy might have a son who you also went out on a date the night before?"

"Not everyone's like you and dad, mom" I answered, trying to not laugh. Good god, Kylie.

"Yeah, well if it makes you feel any better, this guy's in England, and you're currently here in America, so there's really a slim chance that you're gonna experience that type of meet cute" She answered "But honestly, as for tips, you're a good kid, and you're gonna get along with his family. I guarantee you that. I've seen how friendly you are and how you're a likeable person"

"Besides" she added "If you find the son even the slightest bit of attractive, you're not related anyways."

"MOM! STOP!" I answered before covering my ears and left the kitchen with Kylie chuckling.

"Love you too!" She shouted as I headed up to my room.

As I entered my room, my phone rang.

"Heyyy! You excited to go to England?" My bestfriend, Jace asked.

"I'm excited to see my mom" I answered

"You still nervous about the whole step-family thing?" She asked and I nodded "Well if all else fails, you could date your new step bro's best friend"

I laughed. Out loud. Remembering that part of mom and dad's love story. Did I forget to mention that Jace's dad was my dad's best friend of all time?

"You did not just suggest that" I said in between laughs

"Do you realize we could've been sisters or something?" Jace said

"Dude don't even go there" I said "Besides, your dad dated mom, and I am Luke's daughter" I said, rolling my eyes.

"You totally need to rephrase that sentence to fit a Star Wars reference" Jace said, making me roll my eyes again.

A couple of weeks passed by, and today was the dreaded day.

AKA, the day I get to meet my mom's soon-to-be family.

I had jet lag the moment I arrived so I opted to sleep the entire day so I could look fresh af by the time I meet them.

"Any tips before I meet Charles' family?" I asked mum as I put on my jacket

"God, you sound awfully like a proper American now, Sadie" mum said. "And you've been there not even that long"
