[Arissa’s POV]

Ivan’s words rang out around the room, nearly deafening me with how clear they were. Despite my trying to deny it, his strong hold on my waist and the beating of his heart against my back proved otherwise.

"Please let go." I said slowly, trying to calm my racing heart that had begun to beat madly as well. "You’re just delirious from everything that happened."

There was absolutely no way that this man was suddenly into me. He was a powerful alpha with a spectacular reputation. He was also my step-uncle due to my mother’s marriage to Isaac. Not to mention, he was a good seventeen years older than me. There was just no way that he would fall for a pathetic omega with a murderous and torturous background.

"I am well aware of what I’m saying and feeling." Ivan responded matter-of-factly. "Only a fool would speak without being sure."

In a way, he was right. However, right now I could truly deem him the fool.

"Then tell me." I said, wiggling loose enough to turn and meet his gaze. "Why would such an outstanding man want someone like me?"

I truly wasn’t looking for pity or self-validation. I just couldn’t wrap my mind around what was happening right now.

My body was screaming for him as his warmth seeped beneath my skin and my heart was doing strange flips. It was all a bit too much, and I was truly worried that if I continued to let him hold me like this and speak like that, I would give into his temptation.

"Beats the hell out of me." Ivan admitted ruefully. "Isn’t it said that the heart wants what it wants? Who am I to question my needs and desires? "

"What a terrible response." I sighed, rolling my eyes. "If you think that will..."

I never got to finish my sentence as Ivan’s mouth slammed against mine. Unable to resist his draw, I opened my mouth, allowing his tongue to enter my mouth and dance with mine.

I knew I was supposed to be angry. I knew that I was supposed to be denying him. However, my body reacted on its own.

"Does this mean I’m forgiven?" Ivan asked, pulling away and smiling broadly.

Shit, his smile was gorgeous. It should be illegal for a man to be so damn good-looking.

"No," I snapped, attempting to turn and leave. "It doesn’t."

"Oh, come on." Ivan called, grabbing me again. "I truly didn’t mean to offend you earlier."

Rolling my eyes, I continued to feign anger and hurt. To be honest, I was already over it. It seemed that as long as he was touching me or near me, I just couldn’t resist. It was the oddest sensation. Something about him just drew me.

"Should I work for your forgiveness?" He suddenly asked, catching me by surprise.

"What do you mean?" I asked, turning and meeting his mischievous gaze.

I could feel my breath hitch in my throat as he swept me up into his arms and carried me into his room. Not bothering to shut the door, he dumped me on the bed and pounced.

Quicker than I could process what was happening, his hands were touching my body and his mouth was gliding along my skin. Fuck, it felt good. Where he touched left lingering tingles, and where he kissed burned. This truly wasn’t fair.

"You aren’t resisting." He murmured, beginning to kiss down my torso. "Should I take this as a signal that I can continue?"

I debated on what to say, but lost all thought process as soon as Ivan’s fingers hitched into the top of my pants and pulled them down in one swift move.
