“But…” Dr. Morris wanted to say something, but Dr. Blanc stopped him again.

“In that case, we won’t force you, as we’re looking for a volunteer. Besides, I trust Mr. Fike’s recommendation, and I believe Mrs. Russell could work well with us.” He turned to look at Lily as he made the invitation.

Lily looked at him pensively for a few seconds, then slowly said, “I look forward to working with you guys then.”

He struggled in vain and said, “Hey, why are you pulling me? Of course, I’m going to see your beloved son!”

“Oh yeah?” Lily drawled and snorted. “How dare you! You sold me out without telling me anything. You think I have to listen to you because you’re holding Galen hostage, do you?”

“Am I that sort of person?” He chuckled, then looked over his shoulder at her. When he saw that she was not smiling, he dropped his smile. “Okay, I am!”

Lily let him go and sighed. “Never mind. I don’t mean that.”
