“Argh!” He screamed in pain. Unlike the soundproofed place where he was held, the open space outside allowed his howl to echo loudly. “Gahhh! Argh!”

Besides a headache, his eyes were also hurting, as if they were bulging. Austin wanted to hold his head with both arms, but one remained stuck in the grille. He could only hammer his head with one hand while trying to swing his other arm.

Either his strength grew due to the pain, or the grille had finally loosened after he kept swinging for a long time. The metal framework suddenly detached from the wall with a loud clang.

The window grille remained on his arm. Having lost much of his sanity, Austin instinctively wanted to free himself and kept banging it about. The clangs of the grille banging against the wall were too loud.

Dominic hurried out of the house and looked upstairs. “You brat, what the hell are you doing? You…”

Before he could finish, his eyes widened as Austin banged the grille against the wall a few times, then suddenly leaped out the window.

“How dare you—” Something swooshed down with a thud before he finished his sentence.

Dominic paled. He took a few steps backward despite himself and saw Austin lying still before him. Dominic’s lips trembled as he called out tentatively in a quivering voice, “A-Austin? Aus…tin…”

There was no reply.

“Austin? Austin!” Unable to stop him, Dominic could not stop his grandnephew and could only look on as Austin crashed into a pile of arranged rocks.

A crash, and the rocks tumbled. Austin fell onto his knees and quieted down. Immediately after, Dominic hurried over and bent down to check on him. Worried Austin would go mad again, the older man tentatively reached out a hand to pat his grandnephew’s shoulder. “Austin?”

There was no response.

“Austin?” He called again as he touched Austin, but the kneeling man suddenly fell aside, causing a tiny dust cloud. Austin no longer moved.
