"I think I might know what they're up to!" Lily grabbed Alexander's sleeve and stood up.
Maybe it was the sudden movement, the spike in her emotions, or her fatigue, but Lily felt her stomach tighten, followed by a throbbing pain.
"Hiss…" She gasped, holding her stomach with one hand, then bent down.
"What's wrong?!" Alexander hurriedly supported her in shock and looked at her nervously. "Does your stomach hurt?"
She endured the pain, nodded, and grabbed his sleeve while holding her stomach before slowly sitting down again. The pain came and went, and it was not anything severe. It seemed like it was elicited by something, making the two babies inside her uncomfortable.
"I'll take you to the hospital!" Alexander was panicking. The typically calm and in control man panicked when he saw his wife in pain.
Everything went smoothly when Lily gave birth to Galen. There were no hurdles during her pregnancy, and her birth was also effortless. Even so, Alexander felt terrible. He remembered Lily’s pale face and weak body just after she gave birth.
Now, the first thing that came to mind was the possible dangers the doctor had mentioned when she gave birth. It made Alexander feel like he was about to lose her. While he called for someone to prepare the car and get someone to call the hospital, he was so anxious that he did not notice Lily tugging him.
Only after a hard jerk did he finally lower his head. "What's wrong? Is it excruciating? Hold on. I'll send you to the hospital right away!" He immediately picked her up and prepared to go outside.
"Don't—" Lily was already in pain, but now, she could not speak properly. "I'm fine."
She only remembered a little after that. Galen was a well-behaved fetus, so the delivery process went smoothly. He was positioned correctly and wasn't too big or small. Still, Alexander's eyes were full of panic, just like before.
It stressed Lily out. She raised her hand gently to caress his face. The warmth of her palm pressed onto him. "I'm fine, really!"
Her gentle voice was firm. Eventually, Alexander calmed down, and his face relaxed a little. Despite this, he insisted stubbornly, "Even if there's nothing wrong, let's just go to the hospital for a checkup. Let's treat it as a pregnancy checkup. It'll put me at ease."
Lily looked into his eyes and knew she could not reject him, so she nodded.
