Alexander heard Lily’s voice as soon as he approached. Although he could not tell what she was yelling about, he could hear the emotions in her voice. He quickly walked over and saw her standing there with her phone. The sullenness on her face had not completely faded.
"What?" Alexander turned his head and glanced at the things on the concoction table. The concoction’s progress was still ongoing, and seeing that no alarms were ringing, he quickly walked toward her.
He raised his hand and touched her forehead. Her body temperature was normal, but he noticed her chest was heaving violently. Just as he was about to take the phone from her, she tightened her grip. "I'm fine."
"Who called?" He knew it was a call at a glance but did not hear who it was.
"Mike Corden." Lily glanced at him and supported herself up slowly.
She casually pulled the pillow beside her waist and adjusted it to a more comfortable position. "It's not actually Mike, but the person behind him."
"The mysterious man appeared?" Alexander was a little surprised.
‘That person had been hiding behind the scenes for so long. It’s hard to guess what he wants to do now that he has taken the initiative to speak up.’
"What did you say?" After thinking for a while, he asked again.
Lily pursed her lips, and her face darkened. "He threatened me."
Back then, she could handle any danger she encountered and was able to plan accordingly. However, it was different this time around. The man’s power and the organization were too immense. They were powerful beyond imagination.
On top of that, they were too careful. Lily had yet to learn who was the mastermind behind everything and if it was a person or external force for them to be so evil.
"Don't be scared." Alexander’s palms wrapped around Lily’s shoulders. He leaned her against him, patting her comfortingly.
He softly said, "No matter how they threaten, you don't have to go if you don't want to. No one can force you! Remember that! You shouldn't allow anyone to force you to do things you don't want to! I’ll spend all my money to protect you and the children."
