At eight o'clock in the morning, a black car appeared at the gate of the Russells household. At the same time, Lily's phone rang.

She glanced at the flashing caller ID, lowered her head, and hung up. Then she picked up the things she had packed earlier, drank the remaining milk in her cup, and said to Alexander, "I'm leaving."

"If you feel like something's wrong, stop doing it and call me immediately." Alexander did not have much to say besides this reminder.

She nodded and walked toward the door.

"Lily," he called out. Lily stopped, and Alexander quickly pulled her into his embrace. He hugged her quietly without saying a word.

His embrace was warm and comforting. Lily was startled for a moment before quickly returning to her senses. Then she leaned into his chest and enjoyed the warmth and tranquility of this moment.

They both knew what they were about to face was cruel and dangerous. However, they could not just back down when push came to shove.

"It's almost time," Lily said softly and patted his shoulder lightly.

Those people were impatient. On top of that, there was no need to delay.

Alexander let her go and dropped his arm to the side before taking her hand instead. "I'll walk you out."

She wanted to tell him it was unnecessary, but after glancing at his face, she swallowed back her words and nodded slightly. "Okay, let's go!"

Alexander held her hand tightly, and his palm was slightly sweaty. His face was solemn, too. It was rare for him to be this nervous. Lily turned her head and gently scratched his palm, trying to get him to relax.

However, Alexander did not stop or look at her. Instead, he held her hand a little tighter.

Mike nodded fiercely and said, "I promise I will do my best to protect her, even if it costs me my life!"

He had done a lot of wrongs for his son’s sake. Every day was torture in the organization. Now, Alexander's request was nothing to him.

Alexander put his hands in his pockets and nodded slightly in response.

Mike did not overstay his welcome and quickly got into the car and drove away.

Watching the car disappear from Alexander's sight, a voice sounded from Alexander’s earphones, asking uncertainty, "Mr. Russell, are you not going to follow them?"

Alexander tilted his head slightly and answered in a flat tone, "There's no reason to."
