Lily knew the building was unique, confirming her guess after stepping in. Firstly, the place was built with unique materials. It had a large number of acoustic pads on the walls and had more vents than ordinary buildings.

The place's lighting was not ideal, so it was a little dark and would make anyone feel depressed. Still, the lighting should not have been so terrible, judging from the building’s architecture. Hence, there was only one reason to explain the situation—it was done deliberately as a protective measure.

The hallway had warm lights, but the wattage must have been low because it was still quite dim. Walking through the hallway made Lily feel like she was entering another world, not to mention the door that closed behind them with a bang.

Startled by the sound, Lily turned to look before averting her gaze to Mike. He seemed calm, evidently used to it, and said without surprise, “You’ll get used to it soon.”

Lily just let out a mocking laugh.

‘Mike is wrong because I’ll never get used to this filthy and evil place. I don’t intend on getting used to anything here.’

When they arrived at the end of the hallway, Mike stopped and removed his gloves to scan his fingerprint. Then he looked toward a particular direction with widened eyes to have his iris scanned. Finally, the door beeped and opened.

Lily narrowed her eyes, knowing they would not allow her to enter such a place so quickly. She noticed someone was already waiting for them when they entered the door. The person lowered his head when he saw Mike as a sign of confirmation, then someone else came and passed them two sets of protective suits.

“Put it on.” Mike passed one to her. With that, he turned and quickly put it on for himself, making it evident that it was not his first time here. When he finished tidying himself up, he turned and noticed Lily was also ready.

He looked down at her belly. The oversized protective suit covered the bump, making it less apparent that she was pregnant.

Plus, all their efforts would be in vain if someone got infected by the virus and spread it.

‘Most would probably die from the infection.’

Lily kept to herself and completed all the preparations silently. Then she walked over to the working table, and the first thing she saw was a type of plant growing in a glass vessel.

She was familiar with this plant. After all, she had seen it frequently when working back then. However, this plant seemed a little strange because it had grown so huge that it had exceeded the size stated in the books and what she had imagined.

“This…” She turned to look at Mike.
