After some thought, Lily asked, “Don’t you think you might be wrong?”
Mike was puzzled.
“Why do you care where he kept it previously? It’s enough to know where it is now. Perhaps he had kept it with him or elsewhere, but he might’ve changed his mind now.”
“You could be right, but that’s not his style.” Mike pondered and thought what she said made sense. Still, he was unsure. “So what are you suggesting?”
“We stick to the plan,” Lily added, “Let’s follow what you said previously.”
“Noon tomorrow then.”
Lily nodded, then glanced upward and put her hand on his shoulder to stop him from talking. Before Mike could turn his head, he heard a mocking voice from behind, “I didn’t know how close you two were. I wonder if Mr. Russell knows about it?”
Rhea’s voice was shrill, and it was clear what she was implying.
Mike stiffened his face and turned to look at her. “I wonder if people outside are interested in knowing about you faking your death.”
“Do you think I would worry about it after showing up before you guys?” Rhea snorted and said indifferently, “I’m afraid the outside world is in chaos now, and no one will bother about me.”
Mike looked baffled.
‘Kickboxing is just like herbal medicine. People like to exaggerate how wonderful herbal medicine is, but if it’s truly so amazing, its practitioners would have come up with ways to achieve immortality, wouldn’t they? If kickboxers are so powerful, wires and pulleys wouldn’t be needed when they make martial arts films, would there?’
However, when Lily struck her, she saw nothing and only felt a gust of wind before her face started to hurt. Rhea would have suspected she was hallucinating if it were not for the pain.
“So what if I did?” Lily did not deny it. “Since you don’t know how to talk nicely, I can only teach you some manners.”
“Lily, don’t think I’m no match for you!” Rhea barked through clenched teeth. She dared not hit Lily back, knowing she was no match for her. Rhea would only humiliate herself if she did.
Lily let out a cold smile. “Well, I’ve never thought of fighting you. You’re also unworthy to be my opponent.”
