Dominic glared at him before bursting into laughter. He could not die yet, at least for now. Austin would wallow in guilt and blame himself for Dominic’s death if the latter died now. That burden would be too heavy for Austin to bear.

"Didn't you look down on my apprentice?" Dominic raised his eyebrow and asked half-jokingly, complacency clear on his face.

Austin did not answer. After a moment of silence, he finally squeezed out three words. "I respect her!"

Before, he felt unconvinced in various ways. Although Austin admired Lily, he was still a little dissatisfied. Even up until now, it was hard for him to accept the truth. Not only was Lily's attainments in medicine higher than his, but she was also better than him in various aspects, be it her composure or her fearlessness in the face of danger.
