After a moment of silence, Joseph suddenly raised his head and broke out in laughter. “Amazing! Oh, dear daughter, I’ve underestimated you!”

Arianna just looked at him coldly, not having much of a reaction. She might have had a crushing defeat today if she had not done this.

After laughing for some time, his phone rang. He was not in the mood to answer it, so he picked it up after some time. “Hello?”

Suddenly, he raised his head after exchanging a few words with the person on the other end.

Standing up, he asked anxiously as his gaze averted to Arianna, “What? Are you sure that you searched everywhere?”

Puzzled, Arianna looked back at him.

“Okay, I got it. Calm down. No, don’t call the cops. Wait first…”

Then, he hung up and glared at Arianna. His phone was still in his hand. “What have you done to Damian?”

Arianna had no idea what he was talking about.

“Is there a need for you to put on an act in front of me at this point?” Joseph scoffed, unable to trust her at all right now. “Did you have to kidnap him now that you’ve pushed all the blame onto him? Where is he?”

“That can’t be!” Joseph shook his head firmly and said, “You don’t understand how helpless Damian is. He could only wait for my updates and for me to help him now, but…”

He did not expect that he could not rectify the situation but made the whole thing even worse instead. It made him feel distressed in an instant.

“Yeah, he’s helpless, and he can only wait for you. He can only depend on you, or even me but Dad, I could only rely on myself all this while. Do you know how difficult it was for me to get to where I am today? You don’t see the effort I put in at all!”

Her words had no effect on Joseph. Sighing, he said, “What’s the point of saying that now? Ari, did you really not take Damian away?”
