After a while, Chloe displayed an unexpected smile. “I heard Jimmy has become the President of the Henderson Corporation. I must say, I’m amazed by his ability at sponging off his wife.”

“What did you just say?!”

Shania was so mad, her eyes widened with rage. She raised a hand in an attempt to slap Chloe.

However, her hand stopped in mid-air.

Chloe still had a soft smile on her face, which emphasized the shallow dimples on the sides of her mouth, but she had accurately gripped Shania on her wrist.

“Auntie, is this display of anger a reaction to your embarrassment? Too bad, I’m not the same Chloe Henderson from two years ago! Also, my mom has left me a 20% share of the Henderson Corporation. No matter how high Jimmy climbs, he’s just my employee. Aren’t you worried that he’ll lose his job if you slap me?”

Shania was stunned.

How could she forget that this woman still possessed a 20% share of the Henderson Corporation? If not for this factor, she would not have approved of Jimmy and Chloe’s relationship years ago.

It had been two years since they last met, and this little b*tch had grown some nerves!

Zayne Henderson, who was standing nearby, saw the commotion and came over. He asked, “What’s wrong?”

Immediately, Shania’s expression changed and she complained, “Sigh, Mr. Henderson! What’s the matter with Chloe? I only stopped by to say hello to her, yet she wanted to hit me!”

Zayne frowned. He was aware of what had transpired between Jimmy and Chloe. Instinctively, he assumed Chloe behaved that way because she was upset.

Thus, he chided her sternly, “Chloe, Auntie Fernandez is your elder. You shouldn’t hit her!”

Seeing that she had someone behind her back, Shania continued to whine and sob. She cried loudly and wanted to embarrass Chloe.

Zayne was outraged. Why was his daughter so unreasonable?!

“Chloe, apologize to Aunt Fernandez!”

Apologize? Hmph!

Chloe chuckled coldly. When she grabbed Shania’s wrist just now, from another angle, it did seem like she was trying to hit her.

Yet, her father did not bother to listen to her side of the story and would rather believe an outsider instead.

Chloe pursed her lips and recalled the incident two years ago. She felt disturbed when she remembered how her father had scolded her for being indecent without understanding what actually happened.

“What if I don’t?”

“You!”

Shania laughed. “Is this how the Henderson family educates their daughter? Instead of apologizing when she has done something wrong, she talks back! Hmph! No wonder she’s not a good person! Luckily our Iris isn’t like her, else this marriage wouldn’t have taken place!”

Zayne was enraged when he heard those nasty remarks. He shouted at Chloe, “Chloe, I told you to apologize!”

Chloe did not back down and instead, she raised her voice too. “I didn’t hit her!”

“Ah, you still don’t want to admit it, eh? Trying to deny your actions when so many people witnessed what happened! You’re still young, but you’re already so wicked!”

“Yes, yes! We saw how you lifted your hand just now. Hadn’t we intervened, that slap would have landed on Elder Sister Fernandez’s face!”

“Whatever it is, you’re still the elder and what this girl did was utterly disrespectful!”

Shania and her sisters chimed in and twisted the whole story. Zayne was now shaking with rage. Swiftly, he lifted a hand and slapped Chloe across her face.

Chloe’s head was instantly shoved aside by the blow. Noticing Zayne’s action, the crowd quietened down as they watched what happened next.

At the same time, Iris realized something was amiss and ran down from the stage.

“What is it? What’s going on?”

Somebody pulled her aside and explained the situation to her.

Shocked, Iris said dejectedly, “Sis, how could you do that? No matter how unhappy you feel about my marriage with Jimmy, you shouldn’t hit your elder!”
