Mia’s voice was heard from the other side of the door.
“Celine, are you in there? I brought you a gown.”
Celine regained her composure before turning to open the door.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
While smiling, Mia noticed the disoriented look on her face. Hence, she asked out of concern, “Celine, are you okay?”
Forcing a smile, Celine shook her head.
Although she was shaking her head, her facial features read, ‘I have something on my mind. I’m sad.’
It was obvious for Mia to take the hint.
She exercised worry. “Celine, did that b*tch Nell bully you again? Did she call you and say something?”
Celine still shook her head.
After a slight pause, she grabbed Mia by the hand and said, “I’m okay. I’m jus-just a little worried.”
“Worried about what?”
“I...”
With her head hung low, Celine hid her the twinkle in her eyes.
“Celine, speak up! I’m sitting on the edge.”
Celine finally replied in a gentle voice, “You probably won’t believe me. I find it hard to believe myself. I didn’t think... I didn’t think that my sister was this sort of a person. I really...”
Her voice was gradually choked up in sobs.
The waterworks started on Celine’s face too.
Not one to hold back, Mia immediately chimed in. “I knew it! That b*tch bullied you again! Tell me, what did she do?”
Celine shook her head. She took a while to gather herself together before retorting, “After you escort Em to the room, she stopped me and told me that she had gotten hold of the manuscript I drew five years ago, that she’d be able to prove that it was her own work as long as she pulled the manuscript out tonight!”
Mia widened her eyes in disbelief.
“F*ck! How much of a b*tch she can get? Wouldn’t that paint you as the villain?”
Celine nodded.
“I’ve never seen anyone more shameless!”
“Mia, you’re my best sister. I only have the courage to tell you this. I really don’t know what to do. You know, my sister can be really good with her words. I’m afraid that she’ll bring out the manuscript and twist the facts. I’ll be done for.”
Infuriated, Mia responded, “Celine, don’t be afraid. For her to say such a thing, it can only mean that she brought the manuscript today. Everything will be alright as long as we steal the manuscript before she puts it on display.”
Taken by surprise, Celine looked at her with vacant eyes.
“Steal-steal it?”
Mia firmly nodded.
“Yes.”
“But... That’s not very nice.”
“What’s not very nice? She was the one who took it too far!”
Mia at last noticed the dilemma in Celine’s eyes.
Though on edge, she patted her chest.
“Don’t you worry. You don’t have to participate in this. I’ll help you take care of everything. Just make sure to stall the b*tch, so she doesn’t return to her room.”
Celine gazed at her, between two minds.
Finally, she meekly let in. “Alright... then!”
“Have a change of clothes. I’ll head off first.”
“Okay, thank you, Mia.”
Following Mia’s departure, Celine closed the door and straightened her back.
