Upon hearing that the mother and daughter were back, all the friendly neighbors immediately swung by for a visit, bringing along some gifts.

Stephanie received a bunch of gift boxes.

"But it's only fair; your mom gave our kids gifts. We gotta return the favor. Plus, Steph, you're doing really well, already acting!"

"Yeah, I'm in a web series right now. I also filmed a movie; you guys can watch it when it's out."

"We'll definitely check it out! Our Steph is gonna be a big star!"

"By the way, Marilyn. Some relatives came by your place yesterday but you weren't there, so they just left. They asked us where you guys were, said they couldn't find you in the hospital."

Hearing this, Stephanie immediately winked at her mom.

Marilyn shot her a look, then replied, "I've been discharged, feeling better and back to work. I'm staying at the company's dorm since Steph is always at school, that's why we weren't here."

"Ah! Good to know you're feeling better. We all felt so sorry for you, Marilyn. You're such a sweetheart. Anyway, the past is the past. Now you're better, and Steph is thriving. Your best days are still ahead of you!"

Marilyn laughed, "We've just got back, and the house is still a mess. Why don't you all come over for dinner tonight, to celebrate my recovery. Actually, we've been meaning to have you over. Steph, grab my purse. When I was sick, the neighbors lent me some money. They stuffed it into my hands and left, afraid I'd refuse."

"Oh Marilyn, don't be like that, it was nothing. We felt a bit embarrassed ourselves; it was your medical bills after all. We didn't pitch in much; times are tough for everyone!"

Stephanie immediately chimed in, "Well, you guys did lend us some money. My grandparents didn't even take care of my mom, let alone lend us money. They kicked me out when I asked them for a loan. We're really grateful for your help!
