Andre Cedillo quickly realized the perks of having a son. For example, his wife, no matter how stunning she was, would instantly shift most of her attention to their little bundle of joy the moment he cried out “Mommy.” The benefits were clear: his son could help ward off any romantic rivals.

Andre's relief was short-lived, though! Little Henry, with tears in his eyes, wobbled towards Andre just as Mia Irwin had set him on the beach to grab a swimming ring. Down he went, taking a clumsy tumble.

Despite the soft sand, Henry's whimpering cries filled the air. Before Mia could reach him, a kind stranger rushed over and picked him up.

“Thank you so much,” Mia said, grateful as she gathered her little one into her arms.

“Is this your baby? He’s adorable,” a man said, striking up a conversation with Mia.

Mia nodded, holding her damp son close.

“Are you here alone with your child?” the man asked further.

Andre was instantly on high alert. Didn’t this guy hear Henry shouting “Mommy”? What’s wrong with these folks!

Andre made his presence known, giving the man a pointed look as he waved to his son, “Daddy!”

Realizing Mia was with her husband, the man sheepishly backed off.

As Mia turned with Henry to see who was behind, Andre quickly ducked out of sight, losing all his usual cool CEO demeanor.

Mia took Henry to their little camp, grabbed a towel, and started drying his face and hair, “Henry, now that you’ve got legs, you're all over the place. You took a tumble and someone picked you up, but before I could even thank them properly, they left.”

She opened her bag, pulled out Henry’s water bottle, and offered it, “Let’s hydrate, you little rascal. You’ve been playing so hard.”

Henry sulkily accepted, drinking through his tears.

He whimpered and cried while sipping on the sour juice, took a couple of sips, cried a bit more, then continued drinking.

Mia watched her son with a mix of amusement and exasperation.

...

In a corner, Chad Byrne said, “Andre, maybe you should stay hidden. Henry’s been calling for you all day.” He was worried the little one might blow their cover.

Leo Cedillo, eager to step out, suggested, “Uncle, maybe you two should stay put, and I’ll go out. Ms. Anya almost had someone come up just now!” He was eager to head out but found himself held back, unable to outmuscle his burly uncle and cop aunt.
