Andre glanced at his own son. “So, where’s your sister?”

As Naomi passed by, she called out, “Mia’s in the gym, talking about getting stronger so she can fight. You might want to check if someone’s messing with her again.”

Andre walked over, picked up the barbell easily with one hand, and racked it.

Andre pulled her to her feet. “What are you doing?”

“Working out,” she said, all innocence.

He gave her a look. “Why the sudden interest?”

Andre glanced around, hands stuffed in his pockets like a man in charge. “Nope. Not happening.”
