Hansen shook his head. “Don’t bother calling him. It won’t help. Bruce can’t comfort anyone to save his life—if he could, Naomi wouldn’t have spent last night upset.”

So Naomi just threw a few things into a bag and called her son.

Leo was floored. “Wait, what?”

Anya had already heard. “Your mom’s coming to live with us?”

Leo checked with her, “Ms. Anya, are you okay with this? If it’s weird for you, I’ll handle it. It’s our little place—I want you to feel comfortable here.”

“Of course, Chad. But is everything alright? Why does your mom want to move in all of a sudden?” Anya was mostly worried about the reason behind it.

Leo sighed. “No idea. She and Dad had some kind of fight. I should call those two troublemakers and see what happened.”

Anya suggested, “Chad, if you’re free, maybe you should go pick your mom up? There are so many floors here, I’d hate for her to get lost. And she can sleep in my room tonight—”

The call cut off before she finished.

Leo snorted. “Yeah, my mom says she’s coming to ‘help’ us. More like she’s coming to keep an eye on us—or break us up.”

Anya secretly didn’t mind. With his mom around, she’d finally get to stretch out in bed, and Leo would have to take the couch for once. Maybe it’d teach him some restraint.

Leo went to pick up his mom at Willow Park Apartments.

Meanwhile, Mia watched Naomi’s retreating figure. “You think Naomi’s going through menopause or something?”

Molly just shrugged. “Who knows?”

Mia blinked, pulled out her phone, and figured she’d go straight to the source. “Hey Mom, did you ever go through menopause?”
