Andre blocked the doorway, refusing to let his wife go shopping. If he kept this up, she’d have every reason to complain—first he drags her out, then won’t even let her browse the stores.
But if he let her go, well, everyone knew exactly what she’d get up to.
Stuck between a rock and a hard place, he finally muttered, “Come to my study.”
“I’m not full yet. Don’t wanna go~” She was in her full-on rebellious kitten mode.
Molly eyed her friend, noticing how distracted she seemed at dinner, barely picking at her food, while Wayne was off making a mess and his mom just let him be.
Andre sighed, totally out of ideas. He took a deep breath. “Fine, I’m off to work.”
“Bye, hubby! Love you! Love you the most!” she called after him, laying it on thick.
Andre looked at his wife and couldn’t find a single word to say.
Mia, who’d been missing all day, ended up coming home almost at the same time as her husband. This time, she’d gotten smarter—she bought a couple of new outfits, just to smooth things over with him.
Later, curled up in his arms, she sighed dramatically, “Babe, my feet are killing me from all that shopping~”
Andre furrowed his brow. “Why are your hands so red?”
Mia glanced at her hands, then shrugged. “...From carrying shopping bags.”
“Henry’s clothes are that heavy? Enough to leave marks?”
She looked down at the pile of clothes on the floor, checked her palm again, then glanced up with a huff. “Are you already getting bored of me? You don’t care that my feet hurt, but now you’re grilling me about my hands? Maybe I’m just stressed, ever think of that?”
She slipped out of his arms, grabbed their son’s clothes, and called, “Henry, come upstairs with me.”
Molly watched her friend conjure drama out of thin air. If Mia wanted a reason to fight with Andre, this was pretty flimsy.
Hansen looked confused. “What’s going on?” He had a feeling Mia was picking a fight on purpose.
Andre didn’t even try to comfort her.
He just sat there, looking glum. He’d been out of sorts the last couple days.
Back in their bedroom, Mia scratched her head in frustration. “Why won’t Andre just mess up for once so we can have a proper argument?” Even her attempt at starting a fight just now felt half-hearted.
