Chad handed the phone to Molly as he drove while she did the talking.

"That's my money under your pillow. Keep it down, don't let the neighbors hear about the stash under your pillow, or they might get ideas." Molly said, "I left you that money, knowing you wouldn't take it if I gave it to you directly. You guys are getting old, no need to break your backs in the field anymore. Grandpa Elmer just had a major operation not long ago, and the medical bills and recovery costs are through the roof. So just take the money. When the weather warms up, Chad and I will come back to take you guys to the city for some good rest.”

Grandma Aubree's voice got a little softer after hearing Molly's words. "Silly girl, we're old folks, and we don't need all that money. It's way too much."

It took Molly half an hour to soothe Grandpa Elmer and Grandma Aubree before she hung up. Molly turned to Chad, "Do you think they would use this money to help Juliana?"

"If they can't stand to see her suffer, they'll definitely chip in. What parent doesn't worry about their kids? But they're not dummies, they know when to put the brakes on." Chad said.

Molly nodded, and then went on a rant about how greedy Juliana's family was.

When they got back to Havenbrook, it was already dark. As soon as Molly walked in, she saw Coleen taking some medicine.

"What are you taking now?" Molly asked.

"Just a little something to help me sleep, I've been tired." Coleen said.

Coleen put down the pill bottle, picked up a few other bottles and jars from the table, and headed upstairs.

Watching Coleen's retreating figure, Molly turned to Chad, "Coleen's been on the meds for months now. Why does it feel like she's taking more and more?"

Chad looked up towards the stairs, then sat down in the living room and asked Mr. Kendrick, "Did you guys go to the hospital today?"

"Who told you that?" Mr. Kendrick retorted.

"There's a medical brochure on the front of your car." Chad replied.

"I was just passing by, so I dropped in to pick up some medicine." Mr. Kendrick got up, planning to go to the yard to get the brochure from the car. But when he got to the car, he found no brochure.

He suddenly realized that Chad was testing him. Did Chad consider everyone in the family a suspect? Having a cop in the house was like having a lie detector.

When he returned to the house, Chad asked straight away, "Is Coleen sick?"

"No sickness, just picking up some medication." Mr. Kendrick said.

Back in her room, Molly confronted Coleen, "Don't scare me. There can't be that many supplements."

Chad and Molly each posed a question, and then Molly headed to Chad's room. She sat on the edge of his bed, looking worried, "Mom says she's having trouble sleeping, so she's taking sleeping pills."

"Dad says she's stressed, so she's taking sleeping pills." Chad said.

But neither Chad nor Molly believed it.

"Let's take mom and dad to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow? They're getting old, so regular check-ups are really necessary." Chad suggested.

"Sure." Molly agreed.

After agreeing, they both went to bed.

The next day, Mr. Kendrick and Coleen wanted to sleep in, but the shouting outside forced them to get up. Without even having breakfast, they were whisked away to the hospital for a check-up.

Molly was holding Coleen's hand in one hand and Mr. Kendrick's in the other, feeling incredibly happy. Chad went ahead to find a nurse to fill out the forms. After finishing, he and Molly took their parents to get checked.

It wasn't until blood was drawn that Coleen really believed it was happening.

While having their bone density checked, they ran into a familiar face.

"Coleen?" A doctor hurried over, about to ask Coleen if she was feeling unwell, but then he saw her subtly shake her head.

Molly went to the hospital that day but didn't find her parents' check-up results. She asked the doctor and found out they had already been picked up.

She called up Coleen, who told her, "You're busy with your studies, Chad's swamped with work, so I had my secretary pick up the medical reports. The doctor said both your dad and I are in the pink of health, so don't sweat it."

Molly made a wasted trip, and it was mealtime when she got back to the apartment.

"Molly, you're back so soon. How are Coleen and Mr. Kendrick doing?" Mia asked.

Molly sat down next to her and started to chow down, "My mom's secretary picked up the medical reports. My mom said it's all good."

"Well, take Coleen's word for it then." Mia said.

Molly nodded.

Mia had been puking her guts out for two weeks, resulting in weight loss. Once her symptoms eased up, she started eating like a horse. She couldn't figure out why she was always ravenous. She was pouring a lot of energy and brainpower into her studies, and she had a little one in her belly siphoning off her nutrients. Sometimes, three squares a day just didn't cut it for her.

At lunch, Leo looked at Mia across the table, wolfing down a chicken leg, "You're eating enough in one meal to match what you used to eat in a whole day."

Now that she was eating well, her families could breathe easy. Sometimes, she wouldn't get home until after nine, and she'd sit in the living room munching on a plate of fruit.

Andre would usually bring home some of her favorite grub when he got off work.

Mia's hearty appetite brought joy to the Cedillo family. They all wanted her to keep enjoying good food. Molly often had snacks stashed in her pockets for her.

Mia's weight finally started to climb. Once, she couldn't sleep in the middle of the night and kept tossing and turning in bed.

Andre woke up in the wee hours and glanced at the clock, "Mia, you feeling alright?"
