Chad also gave his mother strength, “Mom, who in this world doesn’t face a few bumps and bruises? Once you get through it, everything will be fine. Be strong.”

Coleen wiped away her tears, turning to her son. “Chad, Molly has been in the hospital for several days now. Bring her home tonight so she can get a good night’s sleep.”

“Mom, I want to stay in the hospital with you. I won’t be able to sleep at home.” Molly said.

Chad stood by his sister, gently squeezing her wrist. “Alright, Mom. Dad will stay with you in the hospital tonight.”

Coleen nodded.

Molly recognized the gentle reminder from her brother’s touch and didn’t say anything else. She knew that her parents wanted to talk privately that night.

After the family of four had dinner together at the hospital, Chad left with Molly around eight o’clock. When they stepped out of the hospital, a cold wind blew. In late autumn, it was warm during the day but chilly at night.

Molly tightened her light jacket. “Chad, the weather’s changing. We need to get Mom some warmer pajamas.”

Chad hugged his chilled sister. “How’s Mia?”

Molly replied, “She’s getting admitted tomorrow. There are a lot of people over there, and I’ll visit her later.”

Chad’s job wasn’t like others’. Coleen’s illness came suddenly, and he couldn’t prepare himself in advance.

Molly understandingly said, “You and Dad just focus on work. I can take care of Mom.”

In the hospital, only the couple stayed in the room. Coleen couldn’t hold back her emotions anymore. She broke down in tears.

Kendrick sat by her bed, holding his wife. “We’ll cure whatever illness you have. Don’t be scared. We’re all here for you.”

Coleen cried out, “Kendrick, we have so much unfinished business. Molly is still studying, and there’s not even a hint about Chad’s wedding. I’m scared.”

Kendrick said, “After the operation, you’ll still be in charge of the company. You’ll be the one worrying about Chad’s wedding. Molly still needs your guidance. Don’t scare yourself. Medical technology is so advanced now, and we can cure anything.”

In the following day, Chad and Molly each brought a few pairs of pajamas to the hospital for their parents.

Molly noticed the time. Mia should be arriving at the hospital, so she went downstairs to meet her.

The Cedillo family’s car stopped, and a group of people got out. In addition to the Cedillo family members, the whole Irvin family also came.

“I have to tell you, walking up and down the stairs at the hospital every day will help your delivery.” Cooper stood beside his sister, advising.

Mia replied, “You seem sure, as if you’ve given birth before.”

Leo also brought Anya with him. He saw Molly, who had arrived earlier at the hospital without her brother Chad. He wondered why Molly didn’t come with him, and why she was here even earlier than them? Leo looked at the hospital behind her, suspecting the worst.

The whole group entered the hospital. Mia was surrounded like a celebrity on tour. She was just here for delivery, just in advance. But both the Cedillo and Irvin families were worried as if she would give birth at any moment. Even her husband, Andre, got pushed to the back of the crowd.

“Molly, when did you get here?” Mia asked.

Molly answered, “I’ve been here for a while.”

Molly accompanied Mia to her room. Mia sat on the bed, surrounded by the chatter of her mother and Naomi, interspersed with Cooper’s ignorance.

Aaron and Andre went to find the doctor. Hansen, who was leaning on his cane, went around the rooms in the hallway to look at the newborn babies.

Hansen returned after seeing the children, telling everyone, “Those newborn babies aren’t good looking. The one Mia will give birth to will definitely outshine them.”

Mia was worried. “I’m scared he’ll be ugly.”

Cooper said, “That’s impossible. They say nephews look like their uncles. With my genes, he can’t be ugly.”

Suddenly, Mia noticed the quiet girl behind Leo and asked her brother, “Cooper, do you remember Anya?”

Cooper looked back at the girl behind Leo. “No.”

“Anya still remembers you. During the first year math competition, you took her first place.” Mia said.

Cooper quipped, “Isn’t it normal for people to remember champion?”

Mia was silent. Knowing her brother well, Mia understood what Cooper was trying to say. He couldn’t remember who came in second place, and that was normal.

Anya pursed her lips in a reserved smile. Her chubby cheeks blushed slightly, showing a hint of embarrassment.

Leo’s protective tone was overly obvious. “Anya’s getting second place is already very good. Who cares about first or second place? The key is to participate.”

Anya looked up at Leo, who often scolded her but also often protected her. Warmth filled her heart, and she laughed again. Then she said, “I am indeed not as good as Cooper. When I was still trying to figure out the last question, he had already got the answer.”

Cooper teased his sister, “Sis, did you hear that? She’s praising my intelligence. You can rest assured and give birth. The intelligence of the baby will follow me. You don’t need to worry.”

Mia asked, “Do you think your intelligence can outsmart your brother-in-law?”
