Mrs. Calder stayed by her daughter’s side, too considerate to disrupt her studying, occasionally popping a grape into her daughter's mouth while enjoying one herself. "Mom, why are you and Chad both so obsessed with making me eat fruit? If I eat too much, I’ll get a stomachache."

Mrs. Calder fed her daughter another grape. "It’s good for dieting."

"Chad doesn’t want me to diet. He says if I get too skinny, he’ll have to cook a Thanksgiving turkey just to fatten me up."

Mrs. Calder burst out laughing, "Did he really say that?"

Anya nodded, "He also tricked me into thinking eating fruit makes you smarter."

"What else did he say?"

Anya reflected on Chad’s usual witty remarks and shared a couple of recent ones with her mom. "Chad said other boyfriends are like factory-made products, but he's one of a kind. Basically, that’s what he meant. He tried to give me his credit card, and when I refused, he pinched my cheek, saying he might turn me into a little chubby like Henry."

Mrs. Calder laughed again, "I always thought he was quite composed, reserved, and thorough in his actions. I didn’t expect him to be this type."

"Mom, once you get to know Chad, you’ll see he’s both pitiable and deserving. At home, he’s always picked on by his aunt, criticized by his uncle, bullied by his grandfather. Though pitiable, he truly deserves it."

Mrs. Calder chuckled, "Then what do you like about him?"

"If I could pinpoint what I like about him, I’d say it’s admiration and attraction. But I love Chad, not for anything specific, just everything about him, even when we argue. What about you, Mom? What do you love about Dad?"

Mrs. Calder thought for a moment, "I don’t just 'like' your dad."

Anya turned, shocked, "What?"

"I love your dad."

Anya’s tense expression slowly relaxed, "Mom, you scared me."

Just then, Mr. Calder came downstairs, joining his wife and daughter with a smile, "Anya, let me see how you're doing with your studies. Need help with anything?"

"I don’t need your help, Dad. I’m saving my questions for when I video call Chad tonight."

Mr. Calder sighed, "Always Chad. I’ve signed you and your mom up for a trip. Go on a vacation with her. I’m busy and can’t accompany your mom. She shouldn’t go alone, and you have a long summer break. It’d be a shame not to enjoy it."

Anya was initially reluctant, but seeing her mom’s eagerness to travel, she agreed, "Okay, Dad, I’ll go with Mom."

Mrs. Calder smiled warmly, gently rubbing her daughter’s head.

As the evening deepened, Molly’s car pulled into the Cedillo family’s driveway. “Dad, I’m home.”

Entering the living room and not finding her father, she called out, “Grandpa? Old man? Dad?”

Soon, Mia appeared, holding a chubby baby. “He went out with his friends this afternoon and hasn’t come back yet.”

“Doesn’t he have his grandson to keep him company at home? Who is he out visiting?”

“Who else but his old buddies. Henry’s at that clingy stage, only wants me, and even Naomi can’t hold him anymore. So Dad went out.”

Shortly after, Naomi also appeared, “It’s okay for Dad to go out, saves him from straining his eyes on his phone at home.”

Naomi was bothered by the situation at home; it was troublesome when the elderly got hooked on smartphones. If it were young people, she could scold them, but with her father-in-law addicted, even the kids lost interest, and he was still causing a stir, beyond anyone’s control.

Eventually, they decided to pick up their elderly father.

Molly said to Mia, “Take Henry, and let’s go pick up Grandpa. I’ll drive, show you my driving skills.”

Hansen doubted the depth of their bond, glancing at his son, “You’re not even half as adorable as him.”

He went back to his room, sulking.

Molly then remembered her actual reason for coming, holding a bag of clothes, “Andre, your wife can help me try them on.”

Seeing Bruce, “Big brother, lend me your wife, will you?”

Molly called her friends and Naomi into her room, sending all the men out, despite her cute little nephew’s protests.

Soon, Mia was missing, her baby’s pouting turning to tears, even his father’s comfort not enough.

Inside, Mia said, “Let him be, give me a moment of peace. Molly, what did you call us here for?”

“To try on some clothes.”

Naomi recognized them immediately, “The new collection from Chade Inc.?”

Molly nodded, and Mia commented, “It feels nice to the touch, and the quality and craftsmanship seem fine. What went wrong?”

Molly looked at her friend. “How did you know something was wrong?”

“Do I even have to guess? Suddenly showing up with clothes, and they’re new too. Even if it’s for a fitting, the company has models for that. It wouldn’t be our turn, not me or Naomi.”

She took off her shirt and started trying on the clothes.

As Molly began to explain the situation she discovered, “...I visited several stores today, and the outlook isn’t good. My mom has already asked the factory to start scaling down production. Among the new releases this period, this one just can’t make the cut.”
