Nancy was irritated. She needed someone who she can vent her frustration to. So she decided to call Doris.

Doris was worried about the weird questions that her children might ask her. If the children weren't around, she felt bored. So she decided to beg Jay to permit her to work.

"I really want to work. Do you think it's a good idea?" asked Doris.

"You can go to work, but you are not going to look at another man's penis while you are pregnant with my child! I will not allow it."

Doris simply rolled her eyes at him. "I see. So it isn't just your family that looks down on me, but you as well. Humph, why do you discriminate me because of my career?"

"Stop it, honey. You're being too dramatic. Why would I ever look down on your beloved career? I just care about you and the baby. I want you to be safe when you deliver the baby. Is that too much to ask?" Jay let out an exasperated sigh.

"It seems like you only care about the baby," Doris said in a begrudging tone.

"That's nonsense! I do care about you. You're my wife. I can't have a baby without you." Jay smiled.

Doris had stopped being jealous of the baby until just recently. What was wrong with her today? Why was she jealous of the baby again?

"Well, don’t tell me that you can't have a baby without me. I know you have a lot of women in your life, like..."

He indeed had a dark past, but to him it was nothing to be ashamed of. It didn't matter who brought it up. Jay wasn't ashamed. Although, when Doris spouted out his past, all the hairs on his body stood.

"Honey, if you really want to go to work, you can go," he exclaimed, in order to divert the topic.

"You're allowing me to work?" Doris's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yes. But you can only work in the logistics department, all right?"

"I'm a doctor and yet you want me to do logistics work? I'll be wasting my talent. You understand that, right?" she said, infuriated by his suggestion.

"Come on, you're pretty smart. You can be my secretary." As the words had slipped out of his mouth, he immediately regretted it. How masochistic did he have to be? He basically dug a hole for himself and now he would be buried alive!

He knew that if she became his secretary, he would surely have no more free time.

Doris imagined watching Jay work. Wasn't that a bit strange?

The thought of her working as his secretary bothered him. "I know that you wouldn't want to be my secretary. But if you really are that bored, you can go to work in the hospital. Hanson will be there to assist you," he blurted.

Couldn't Doris understand what Jay had in mind?

Well, it didn't matter now. He couldn't take back what he said.

"You know, I’ve never been a secretary before. Since you asked me to take a leave as your secretary, I would have to say yes," she snickered.

Jay wanted to slap himself hard on the face.

"Don't you think that maybe you’re just overreacting? This might just be pregnancy paranoia." Nancy sneered.

It was common for women to feel overly sensitive and fragile during pregnancy; this feeling of inadequacy often led to overthinking, making them overreact or think irrationally.

During Nancy's pregnancy, she also experienced feelings of paranoia. She feared that she would be kept in the villa for her whole life. Although she suffered a lot in those nine months, nothing could compare to the happiness she felt when she saw her baby grow up.

She then recalled the merry days after her pregnancy. Even though the pain of childbirth was excruciatingly unbearable, it was all worth it in the end.

"Nancy, what are you talking about? What do you mean by 'pregnancy paranoia'? Are you making fun of me? So much for 'best friend', Humph, I can't believe you would say that!" Doris shouted in frustration. She then ended the call without saying goodbye to Nancy.

"Hello, Doris?" Nancy called out but there was no reply. Once she looked at her phone, she noticed that the call had already ended! She murmured, "I know Doris is pregnant. But why does she have to be so short-tempered? Married women are truly awful!"

"What are you talking about?" Charles had just finished preparing dinner. When he came in, he heard Nancy talking to herself.

"Well, I just said that marriage does terrible things to a woman," Nancy snapped.

"Did you call Doris?" Nancy only had one good friend that she trusted. During this time, who else would she call for advice other than Doris?

"Yes, I agree with you. I do think she has a bad temper and it might be because of her pregnancy. After all, she did say that women felt insecure after marriage! It does make sense that she'd feel that way. So, Charles, I think we are in a good state now. We both have our own free time. Do you think that we'll feel tied up after marriage?" Nancy said, as she eyed Charles warily.
