Even though Hiram was going to rush over to the school right now, it was still going to take him thirty minutes to get there. The kids would still have to wait.
When Hiram finally arrived at the kindergarten, he saw the two children sitting in the classroom, drawing.
"Sorry, I'm late," Hiram apologized in a hurry.
"It's okay; this is hardly the first time something like this has happened. Mr. Sun, you don't have to apologize," the teacher said with a smile.
"Children, I'm here now. Do you guys want to leave?" Hiram looked at Bobby and Nadia and asked.
The two kids didn't even look at him when they saw him. Hiram was oddly disappointed.
Nadia tossed her brush aside and said, "Okay, Uncle Hiram."
"How about you, Bobby?" Hiram asked again.
Bobby pressed his lips and said nothing. He slowly folded the drawing and put it into his pocket.
Hiram noticed Bobby's drawing looked like his family. The title was 'a happy family'.
He sighed slightly. Children want such simple things. They just wanted to be happy and with their parents.
Hiram's heart sank.
He took Bobby's hand and said, "Bobby, let me take you home."
"Uncle, Mommy and Daddy don't want us anymore, do they?" Nadia asked in a low voice.
"Of course they do. Your Daddy and Mommy are just very busy," Hiram said.
He opened the door and carried Nadia into the car.
Bobby got in the car, pouting silently and slammed his schoolbag into the back seat.
This little guy had quite the temper.
While Hiram was getting in the car, his phone started ringing.
It was Nancy! He answered the phone excitedly.
However, Bobby snatched it away. "Don't answer it."
Then Bobby turned the phone off
"Bobby, if we don't answer the phone, your parents will be worried sick. Give me the phone back, okay?" Hiram coaxed.
"I won't give you the phone, Uncle Hiram. When Nadia and I sat waiting, we were also worried. Right, Nadia?" Bobby said flatly.
Nadia nodded timidly. "But, brother, I don't want Daddy and Mommy to panic. What must I do?"
"If they don't get a little anxious, they'll make us wait again, next time. Do you want that to happen again?" Bobby asked.
Nadia shook her head rapidly. ”1 don't want to do that again."
She didn't like the feeling of being left alone. It was awful!
"If you don't want that to happen again, you have to listen to me, okay?" Bobby spoke quite confidently like a proud parent.
"Okay," Nadia said obediently.
"Bobby, are you trying to embarrass me?" Hiram asked helplessly.
"No. Uncle Hiram, if daddy blames you, just tell him that I took your phone." Bobby took the phone and threw it into his schoolbag.
"Okay..." Hiram's sigh, quickly turned into a cunning smile. "You really should teach your parents a lesson.
Children should never be forgotten!"
"Who is it? It's so late." A security guard opened the window, poked his head out and asked impatiently, "What are you doing here?"
"Have all the kids left?" Charles asked.
The security guard gave him a scornful look and said, "Of course. It's late. Why would the children still be here?"
Charles hated the arrogant look on the security guard's face, but he couldn't lose his temper. He patiently asked, "Excuse me, Bobby and Nadia..." "Hello! Haven't I told you? They're all gone. They're all
gone. Can you leave now? Stop bothering me!" the security guard said impatiently and closed the window forcefully.
"What should we do, Charles? How about we call the police?" Nancy was scared out of her wits. Last time Bobby and Nadia were lost, it plagued her with this constant nightmare. She didn't want that to happen again.
Charles thought for a while and said, "I'll call Jay first. If the children are not at his home, we'll call the police."
"I hope they're there," Nancy said wishfully.
However, Charles didn't expect that he couldn't reach to both Jay and Doris.
"Damn it!" Charles cursed.
"What's wrong with them today? Why is nobody answering my call?" Nancy was on the verge of tears. "Charles, let's call the police."
"Okay, call the police." Charles couldn't take it anymore. He was too afraid that something bad had happened to the children so he phoned the police.
"Doris, are you also upset with me? Why aren't you answering the phone?" Not giving up, Nancy called again.
She tried and tried but to no avail.
"Damn it! Doris, you are pregnant. Why aren't you at home? Where are you?" Nancy, who never swore, was cursing frantically. She was visibly anxious.
