A bitter smile crept on Nancy's lips before saying, "Okay." Then, she leaned closer to Bobby and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "I'm so sorry for not attending your father's birthday, Bobby. Mommy was really busy last night. Will you forgive me?" she uttered with her most tender voice.

"It's okay, Mommy. I understand." Although he reassured her, the bitterness in his tone said otherwise. Then, with curious eyes, he continued, "However, I still want to know where you went last night."

Outside the door stood Charles, who held a bowl of porridge in his hands. He was about to enter when he heard the conversation between the two. Silently, he stayed by the entrance and listened.

He, too, was curious as to why Nancy drove frantically to the suburbs last night.

With furrowed brows, Charles wondered, 'What does she mean "her child"?

She left at night and went to the suburbs just to look for a child?'

As those thoughts filled his mind, he continued to listen silently to their conversation.

"The truth is, last night..." Heaving a heavy sigh, Nancy began explaining with a puzzled look on her face.

"Listen, Bobby, I have a secret, and promise me that you won't get mad when I tell you. If you can promise me that, then I will share my secret with you." Although she was somewhat reluctant, Nancy had finally decided to tell Bobby that she had a child.

At the same time, Charles couldn't help but squint his eyes as he curled his lips. He was obviously glad that the two had been getting along as if they were really mother and child.

'Secret?' he thought as his curiosity grew.

Although he was already aware of the child, Charles still wanted to know what Nancy would say about it.

"Hmm...Okay, Mommy. I promise!" With a bright smile, Bobby raised his head and gave Nancy a kiss on the cheeks—much to Nancy's satisfaction. Then, with a deep breath, she began telling her story.

"Bobby, the truth is, Mommy gave birth to a beautiful baby girl before, but I've never seen her after her birth. But to my surprise, someone contacted me last night and told me that my baby was in the suburbs. Naturally, I immediately headed over there to look for her, but I didn't find her."

As a tear rolled down her eyes, Nancy halted to a while to calm herself. And after a while, she continued, 'Tm afraid that she might be getting bullied by some bad guys, or hungry, or sick, and I'm not even there to help and care her. I'm worried that she might be maltreated by her stepmother too. I'm such a bad Mom, am I?" This time, Nancy broke out in tears after such a heartfelt revelation.

Although he was still silent, Charles didn't notice that he almost spilled the porridge while his hands frantically shook.

Meanwhile, even with his young age, Bobby bore a grim expression upon hearing what Nancy revealed. 'How could this happen? I'm Mommy's most important person. Why would she have another baby?' he thought as his eyebrows creased.

'What should I do?

Am I going to be a motherless child once more?' he asked himself, obviously jealous of the child.

"Mommy? Mommy, don't you care about me at all? Don't you love me?" he asked desperately with tearful eyes.

Although she didn't want to hurt Bobby's feelings, Nancy still felt obligated to reveal her dark past to him.

"Bobby, please don't think like that. I love you, and I treasure you more than anyone. However, I gave birth to that girl, and I have to be responsible for her future. I can't just let her be on her own. When you grow up a little bit, you will understand why I need to do this." A gentle smile accompanied Nancy's sincere explanation. She wanted to reassure the kid that nothing would change between them.

More than that, Nancy also understood Bobby's worries.

After all, he was just an innocent kid who desperately longed for motherly love. And now that he found that in her, the young boy was afraid she would be taken away from him.

"Well then, Mommy, can I treat her as my sister?" He suddenly asked with a pair of innocent eyes.

"Of course, dear. If that's what you want."

"Do you think she'll like me? Will she treat me as her brother?"

"Bobby, you are a brilliant and kind young man. Anybody will like you!" Marking that sincere remark was a kiss that Nancy planted on his cheek.

"Okay then, Mommy. At least let me help you find my sister." Although the young boy was emanating a sense of jealousy just a while ago, he was inherently kind-hearted to help anyone in dire need.

"Thank you, Bobby!" As a genuine smile flashed across her face, Nancy tightly hugged Bobby. But although she initially felt relieved, deep down, her heart sank and broke into pieces.

At this moment, all she wanted to do was find her daughter as soon as possible, but she had no idea where to start. It had been years since they were separated, and Nancy had lived without hearing a piece of news about her until that night.

While the two were locked in a tight embrace, Charles pushed the door open and went inside, still holding the porridge steadily in his hands.

He pretended to be oblivious of the conversation between the two, and just handed the soup to Nancy. Then, he turned to face his son and said, "Come down, Bobby. Your Mommy needs to eat."

Obediently, the young boy immediately got off Nancy to give her the space she needed.

"Listen, l...ahm... I need to tell you something." Since she had already revealed her secret to Bobby, Nancy decided not to hide it from Charles any longer.

"Wait, I know you're still hungry. Don't say anything and eat something first," he interrupted with a smile, still pretending that he didn't know what she was about to say.

Nonetheless, she never intended to hide it from him anymore. In fact, she longed for the day that she could reveal all her secrets to him.

As for Charles, he immediately called Hiram and ordered him to go to the Ning family, With a stern voice, he commanded him to bring Fannie to the Fu's household.

Meanwhile, as Hiram prepared to head over to the Ning's household, Fannie relaxed leisurely at her house.

Thinking of her devious maneuver against Nancy last night, she seemed to be in a pretty good mood. "Mom, I hope that Nancy dies in the suburbs. That will show her who's the real boss. And when she's finally gone, there'll be one less thorn in my path," she uttered remorselessly while facing Jill.

"Well, what if she survives and comes back?" Jill asked with an anxious tone. Even she was skeptical whether Nancy would die in that wilderness.

With terrible disdain, Fannie snorted at her mother's remarks. She then spat out some melon seeds and uttered scornfully, "It doesn't matter. I’m not afraid of her. If she's still alive after this, then I'll just scheme another tragedy for her." A fit of deeply-rooted anger beamed through her eyes as she spat those words.

However, immediately after she said that, a servant frantically rushed in like she had just seen a ghost.

"Ma'am, we're in a dire situation. Several men in black clothes had just broken in!" cried the servant as a group of large men made their way into their house.

"Who the hell are you? What are you doing here? How dare you trespass in this place! Get out right now!" Jill shouted furiously as she jumped up. She didn't recognize any of these men, and they were clearly sent by someone else either to kidnap one of them or intimidate their family.

However, Hiram just ignored her blaring voice and instead silently strode towards Fannie.

"Fannie, you know who I am, right?"

he asked, knowing full well that Fannie recalled the last time she met him in the TS Group, where he carried and threw her on the streets.

Such a terrible memory still haunted Fannie. Every time she remembered it, her urge to kill Nancy intensified.

"Did Charles send you?” Although she had already realized it, Fannie still asked with a disgusted tone.

"Miss Ning, it seems that you are already aware of my identity. Well then, things will go much smoother if you voluntarily come with me. Otherwise, my men will be prompted to forcibly take you away."

"This is because of Nancy again, isn't it? That woman is really despicable!" Eyes now fiery with anger, Fannie yelled at the top of her lungs. She knew she didn't have any choice but to come with these hooligans.
