I stare at the time on the top of my phone. I've been sitting in the coffee shop not too far from the airport for over 20 minutes now and no one's yet to pick me up. My mother just got married after nearly eighteen months since my father and my mother had a divorce. They battled in court for quite a long time on who's gonna take custody of me.
It was a little pointless if you ask me. Instead of spending so much money in court, why not ask the child in question? Well to cut the long story short, my mother won the court case and now I have to live with her. I hated the idea of coming to live with my mom. My mother isn't bad. Before my parents had a divorce, my mother and I were close. She was like my best friend. She was my favorite parent amongst my parents.
Now you might be wondering 'why did you hate the idea of moving in with your mother if you guys were pretty close?' She just got married, remember? To this rich Billionaire, or millionaire, I didn't care, and he lived in Georgia. Far away from where my parents originally lived before the divorce. I was moving states to be exact. I was leaving my school behind, my friends, even my boyfriend. It was a big blow for him especially. I had a word with my mom, and she agreed that I stayed longer with dad until I graduated high school before I moved across the states to live with her new husband.
My boyfriend broke up with me two days ago when I told him I was leaving the state to live with my mom. He was furious, got mad and asked me never to call him again.
I leaned my back against the booth I was currently sitting on as I remembered the conversation I had with him. Before our final break up, we had split literally four times in our two years relationship. Why? You should already guess why. I was a virgin and he wanted to have sex. I told him I wasn't ready. I wanted to give myself to someone who deserved it and secondly I planned on losing my virginity the minute I left high school. The night, Barry, my boyfriend and I were supposed to have sex, I bailed on him. I was grounded by my dad and that I couldn't leave the house. I couldn't tell why I didn't want my boyfriend to take my virginity. At first it was right, but as time went on, I realized maybe Barry didn't deserve it.
I stared at the pictures of my mom and I on my phone to buy time. I called her nearly forty minutes ago when I was at the airport. Mom was a nurse. She worked at the government hospital in Georgia and when I called her that I already arrived forty minutes ago, she said she was pretty occupied with work, and her patients, and that her new husband, I don't even remember his name, because I didn't care, was gonna come pick me up. I've been waiting for the asshole for nearly 30 minutes now. I'm exhausted, suffering from jet lag and I needed sleep.
My phone rang at once, with an unfamiliar number calling my cell. I picked up and put the phone to my ear and stared out the transparent window of the coffee shop.
" Hello."
" Kristina?" A deep, very deep male voice said my name.
I pull the phone away from my ear to stare at the caller ID again. I don't remember this number belonging to a person that I know. I put the phone against my ear again.
" Who's this?" I ask.
" It's Killian. Where the hell are you?" He asked. Killian? Mother's new husband.
" Are you my stepdad?" I asked him.
" Something like that. Where the hell are you?" He sounded pissed and like a complete douchebag. I hated him already.
" I've been waiting for nearly 30 minutes now for you to come pick me up, Mr. Killian. Where the hell were you?" I spat on the phone. I was more frustrated than him. I've been sitting in this cafe and I've ordered nothing but a bottle of water since I got here. The waitresses have been staring at me weirdly.
" Where exactly are you? I'm at the airport and I can't see you."
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
" Just drive to that coffee shop close to the airport. You'll see me there."
" What are you wearing?" His deep voice asked and I heard him cussed on the phone.
I looked down at myself just to be sure of what I was wearing. A long plane ride can make you forget things sometimes. I heard the ignition of a car.
" Dark blue jeans and a white long sleeve baggy t-shirt."
" Right. I'll be there in a minute."
" How am I gonna know it's..." My step father hung up before I could even ask him my own question about what he was wearing.
It felt like we were flirting. I rolled my eyes and finished my bottle of water. I grabbed my bags and walked out of the coffee shop to wait for Killian outside. A black expensive car stopped right in front of me and a tall man got out. He shut the door of his car and ran his fingers through his hair. I watched him button his black suit jacket as he walked towards me. His deep blue eyes stared at me from head to toe, giving me a once over.
I took my time to check him out too. God he was hot. Tall, and he oozed off of power and money. Where the hell did my mother get this one from? This man was beyond solid catch. He was sexy and annoyingly good looking. I could barely tell how old he was, but according to my mom, she said my step father was six years younger than my dad. So that made my stepdad 40. Hell, he didn't look forty. He looked to be in his mid thirties. I was jealous of my mom for having to marry someone like Killian. He was too good looking to avoid.
" Kristina?" He stopped in front of me.
