Chapter 265
Ava’s POV
What?
Dylan chuckled, tilting his head slightly, eyes gleaming with twisted amusement. “Oh, don’t look so shocked, Ava.” He let out a slow breath, tapping his fingers against the wheel in an almost lazy rhythm, his voice dripping with satisfaction, “Did you really think Damien was invincible? That he couldn’t be stopped?” He scoffed, eyes darkening with something sinister, “He underestimated me. And her.”
My stomach twisted violently, dread clawing up my throat.
I shook my head, my pulse pounding as I tried to process what he was saying, “Crystal-“My throat tightened. “Crystal killed Damien?”
The words felt foreign even as I said them.
It didn’t make sense.
Damien raised her. She had worked with him all this time, stood beside him, protected him. Damien had molded her, shaped her, turned her into the weapon she was. It wasn’t right that he had stolen but she owed him everything.
So why?
Why would she turn on him?
How could she kill him?
And then–another realization slammed into me like a freight train, knocking the air from my lungs.
Crystal had acted like Dylan was in the dark about everything. She made it seem like he had no clue what was going on, like she was playing the game alone, maneuvering through the chaos without his knowledge.
But now?
Now he was telling me otherwise.
Dylan smirked, tilting his head slightly, watching me with the kind of satisfaction that made my skin crawl, “Oh, she hated him.” He said smoothly, his voice almost… delighted, “Despised him, really just as much as he raised her to hate the lot of you. And all it took was a little… push.”
A shiver ran down my spine.
My breath came out unsteady, but I forced my voice to stay firm. “Why?”
Dylan arched an eyebrow, feigning innocence.
“Why did she do it?” I snapped, my voice sharper now, demanding answers.
He exhaled slowly, as if savoring the moment, and then, with a slow, satisfied grin, he said, “Again, that will be discussed later because your sister–oh yes, I’ve known exactly who she is this entire time wants to tell you that part herself.” His smirk widened, feeding off my growing horror. “But right now? Our focus is what’s going to happen.”
My chest tightened. I clenched my fists, the anger burning beneath my skin threatening to explode.
“You know what, Dylan?” My voice shook, but I didn’t care, “I’m sick of this. I am not playing this twisted game anymore. Whatever vendetta you have planned is your business. Yours and Crystal’s. And when you see her-” My voice was breaking

now, rage and betrayal twisting together into something unbearable, “you tell her that we are not sisters. She is nothing to
me and-”
“I would watch that tone if I were you.”
His voice sliced through mine like a blade, sharp and quiet, but the weight behind it sent ice through my veins.
My breath caught.
And then—he smirked. Leaning back slightly, voice eerily calm, he added, “Or I might just blow up the happy couple
sooner.”
The world tilted.
I stared at him, my heart hammering against my ribs, What?”
Dylan stretched, looking completely at ease, “I have a little something planned for each of you,” He continued, dragging out the words. “Starting with Rickon and Isabella. Their car?” He exhaled dramatically, his fingers tapping against the wheel again, slow and deliberate, “Rigged to blow.”
A sharp, suffocating terror gripped me.
No.
No, no, no-
I shoved everything else aside and reached for her again. Pushed through our bond, desperate.
A void stretched where she should have been.
I reached out again, desperately pushing through our bond.
-But there was nothing.
Cold emptiness answered me, pressing in on all sides. My pulse pounded, panic burning through my veins like wildfire..
I forced myself to breathe, to focus, but the silence–the silence–was suffocating, “Just–just tell me what the hell this is Dylan,” I ground out, my voice unsteady but sharp.
Dylan leaned back, stretching like he had all the time in the world, “What’s happening.” He said smoothly, “is that I took a little page from my uncle’s book–the one about becoming King. But don’t worry.” His lips curled into a smirk. “I’ve played the long game for long enough. It’s time to end it.”
I clenched my fists, “So what?” I snapped. “You killed Damien, and now you are going to pick us off one by one until you take the throne? Why are you all so obsessed with that title?”
Dylan chuckled, shaking his head as if I was missing something obvious. Then his eyes darkened, and his voice dropped into something sharper, colder, “Oh shut up Ava and spare me the self–righteous act. You’re the fated mate of the Alpha King. You stand above every other Luna, and you expect me to believe you don’t enjoy that power?”
I shook my head, anger flashing through me. “I never asked for any of this, Dylan,” I snapped. “I never wanted power, never cared about titles. Do you think I enjoy being hunted, being manipulated, being used like some–some pawn in your sick little game? I have never once thought about my status above others because it never mattered to me! I also didn’t ask for you to have somehow spelled me to believe we were mates and then get treated like shit and I had to take matters into my hands which led me to Grayson. None of this was my choice and apparently it was yours!”
Dylan sighed, rolling his eyes like my words were nothing more than an annoying buzz in his ears. “I told you to shut up. You sit there, pretending like you’re so different, so above it all, but you’re not. You were given everything–the mate bond, the power, the respect–without lifting a damn finger for it.”

Dylan straightened, brushing invisible lint off his sleeve, his demeanor shifting back to something almost… relaxed. Like he wasn’t orchestrating chaos. Like he wasn’t threatening everything I loved.
“Making Damien’s head fall was just the beginning.” He mused. “The catalyst I needed to start the dissipation–the unraveling of order itself.”
