Chapter 270
-Grayson’s POV-
The phone in my hand felt heavier than it should have. My eyes still locked onto the image that had just been sent.
Ava–unconscious. A dark bruise against her temple.
My grip tightened around the device, fingers pressing into the edges. My chest burned as I stared at her still form, my mind rejecting what I was seeing. She wasn’t supposed to be like this. Not Ava. Not the woman who never backed down from a fight. But now–she was vulnerable. Defenseless.
A sharp, unfamiliar feeling twisted inside me.
Something dangerously close to fear.
I sucked in a breath, forcing my vision to clear. But it wasn’t fear that took over.
It was rage.
My pulse pounded in my ears, my wolf pushing against my skin, clawing to get out. I was seconds away from crushing the phone in my grip, but the words scrawled across the bottom of the image stopped me.
You want her? Come get her.
His name alone made my wolf snarl, the sound rumbling through my chest. I hadn’t even thought of him in all of this–not once. And that was my mistake. He was Damien’s blood, after all. I should have known he’d pull something like this. I should have expected it. Should have ripped his head from his shoulders when I had the chance.
My jaw locked so tightly that I could hear my teeth grind together.
Dylan wanted me to come. Wanted me to walk straight into whatever trap he’d set.
Fine.
I was coming.
And he had no idea what was waiting for him.
I didn’t waste another second. I hit dial and pressed the phone to my ear. Carter picked up on the second ring.
“What horrible thing has happened now?”
“I need you to work the fastest you’ve ever fucking worked,” I growled, my voice a razor–sharp edge of control. “Find Dylan Cross. Find out exactly where he is right now. He has Ava.”
There was a beat of silence, then a low, understanding exhale. “I’m on it. I’ll call you back in five.”
“You have three,” I snapped before ending the call.
I pressed harder on the gas, the engine roaring beneath me as I tore down the road. The second the situation at my estate had been contained, I’d gotten in my car, following the lead of the trackers. They’d pinpointed where the car had gone and that was all I needed.
I didn’t know who took her but I already had people combing the city trying to locate her and then the picture followed by his message had come in forcing me to stop the car for a moment.

Chapter 270
My wolf growled again, my muscles tensing under my skin, but I forced out a slow breath, Control, Control. I wasn’t going to
lose her,
Not after everything.
The bastard had made a mistake by taking Ava. And I was going to make damn sure he paid for it.
Before I could let that thought settle, Rickon’s mind touched mine. The connection snapped in so suddenly that I almost didn’t register it.
“Is Isabella okay?” The question left my mind before I could stop it and it surprised me that I was actually worried about her..
Rickon’s voice was sharp, “Whoever’s behind this rigged their car. It exploded”
My grip tightened on the wheel.
“But Isabella shifted to shield Eliza,” He continued, “and she managed to tear through just before it went up. She’s alive, but she’s got serious burns.”
My throat went tight.
“So I need you to tell me you’ve figured out who the fuck is doing this, because they are going to pay.”
It was the angriest I had ever heard him. And for a moment, I thought about how much he had changed from the irritable person at the start of this that I couldn’t stand and I wasn’t saying he was less irritable but he had really changed.
I guess we all had.
I let out a slow breath, “It’s Dylan.”
Silence. Then a low, murderous growl.
“I’m about to find out exactly where he is,” I added, “I’ll let you know.”
Before he could say anything else, my phone rang.
Carter.
I didn’t waste time. Without another word, I cut the connection with Rickon and answered, “Tell me you have him.”
Carter didn’t waste time, “He’s on a ship.”
I gritted my teeth, gripping the steering wheel tighter, “A ship?”
“That’s all I’ve got right now. He left from Blackwater Terminal about thirty minutes ago. That’s where the trail ends.”
Blackwater Terminal.
I ran through possibilities in my mind, my brain working faster than my pulse pounding against my skull. A ship meant Dylan wasn’t just hiding–he was moving. But where the hell was he going?
What was he planning?
“Do you know where the ship is heading?”
A pause. Then Carter exhaled, “That’s the problem. I don’t. There’s no flight plan, no listed destination. It wasn’t a commercial vessel, no records in the system. The only thing I could find was that it belonged to an offshore holding company–meaning someone covered the paper trail.”

I clenched my jaw, staring out at the dark road ahead as my car tore down the highway. The city lights blurred past me, but my mind was sharper than ever. Dylan was trying to vanish. That much was clear.
But he wasn’t just running. He was pulling me to him.
He wanted this fight on his terms.
My fingers flexed against the wheel. He thought I’d walk into his trap, that I’d be desperate, reckless. That I’d play by his
rules.
Wrong
I was about to remind Dylan exactly who the fuck I was.
“Keep digging,” I told Carter, my voice steel. “Hack into maritime logs. Check private security firms in the area–someone had to be paid to keep eyes off that ship. Find something.”
“I’m already on it.”
I moved to hang up when Carter hesitated.
“Grayson…” His voice was quieter now. “You need to be careful. I don’t think you get another chance after this.”
The words hit harder than I expected.
For a moment, I didn’t say anything.
Then, when I finally spoke, the edge was gone. The usual bite in my voice softened, even if just for a second.
“I will.”
And then I ended the call.
The moment the line went dead, I reached out to Rickon.
“Dylan’s on a ship. Blackwater Terminal. I’m going there now. If you want to catch up, be quick–but I’m not waiting.”
There was a beat of silence before Rickon responded, his voice edged with tension. “I’ll meet you there.”
I killed the connection before he could say anything else. My focus sharpened as I took the next step.
I needed speed. The kind of speed money could buy.
My fingers moved fast, pressing a number that rarely left my recent calls. The person on the other end answered immediately, crisp and efficient.
“Mr. Blackwood,” A polished voice answered, calm, respectful but i didn’t miss the hint of surprise.”
“I need Blackwater Terminal cleared. Now. No delays.”
A pause. Then the voice returned, composed but alert. “How discreet do you need this to be?”
“I don’t care how it’s done–just make sure no one gets in my way.”
“Understood. It’ll be handled immediately
I ended the call and pressed harder on the gas, the engine roaring beneath me as I tore through the city. The docks weren’t far, but time wasn’t on my side.

Dylan had a thirty–minute head start.
He thought that was enough.
He thought wrong.

My next call was to someone who was almost as good as Carter because I couldn’t limit my options to just one person.
“I need tracking on a private vessel that left Blackwater Terminal thirty minutes ago,” I ordered the moment the call connected. “No registered departure logs, likely offshore–owned. I want to know where it’s heading.”

“Make it happen.” I cut in, my voice razor–sharp. “I don’t care how. Pull from maritime logs, hack into private security feeds -whatever it takes. Find it.”
There was a brief silence, then a quiet exhale. “Give me ten minutes.”
“You have five.”
I ended the call, my grip tightening around the wheel as the city lights blurred past. My mind worked through every
scenario.
