BRINLEY.

It's been a few since I returned to the palace. Things between Xander and me are excellent. We've been taking things slow, and I regret that when he looks so damn good.

Dominic and Xander have formed a bond, and they love doing things together. Caliana and Xander have also developed a bond, and Xander says he is getting his shotgun cleaned when she's older.

I laugh at him. He is so in love with her, just like me.

One look into those big brown eyes, and you fall.

Xander said since I never called off, the engagement was still engaged, so he gave me back a ring.

So, after a lot of thinking I decided on a date.

"May 13th?" Xander repeats, and I nod.

"But that's a year away,"

"I know," I nod.

"Katie and Kelsy are planning the wedding as we speak,"

Xander raises a brow.

"Are you sure you want those two planning our wedding?" He asks.

I shrug.

"Less stress on me,"

Xander chuckles.

"Whatever you want, baby,"

I was hanging up a painting, got in town the other day when Mark, Mortaga came through the main doors.

"Mark," I smile and hug him.

"I'm sorry about your dad," I tell him.

"Thank you. I'm glad your back safe and sound," He says.

"It wasn't easy," I say, shaking my head.

He laughs.

"I heard what happened with Charles, and I will stand with you when the time comes," Mark states.

"That's good to know," Xander says, coming from his office.

"What bring you by?" Xander adds.

Mark smiles.

"It seems we have something to discuss now after all,"

Xander frowns, and I raise a brow.

"May we go to you're office?" Marks said.

Xander nods and starts walking. I follow as well.

"No, fucking way," Xander says through clenched teeth.

Mark nods.

"The contract states a Caputo girl must marry a Mortaga man," Mark says again.

"But Caliana isn't a Caputo," Xander says.

I tap Xander's shoulder, and he looks down at me and frowns.

"I gave Caliana the same last name as Dominic," I say, biting my lip.

"Why did you do that? Now she has to marry Mark's son Tyson,"

Mark chuckles.

"He is right,"

I sigh.

"Xander, this might be what's best for us all,"

"What do you mean?" Xander frowns.

Mark raises a brow.

"I'm curious to know this too,"

"We all know that Caliana and Dominic are mates and Xander said Bane is the other mate, so to keep down the fighting and Keep the kingdoms safe and Dominic won't want to kill her, we should let her marry Tyson,"

Xander shakes his head.

"What will we tell Dominic when he finds out she is his mate?"

Mark clears his throat.

"Tell him the truth. Tell Dominic that he Caliana could never be,"

I glance over at Xander.

"Dominic deserves the truth," I tell him.

"Alright," Xander sighs.

"A deal is a deal, Mortaga," Xander spits out.

"Soon, we will be one big Kingdom," Mark tells Xander.

Mark turns to me.

"Shall we have tea? We have so much to catch up on,"

I nod.

"Follow me," I tell him and Kiss Xander before leaving his office.

"Katie, are you sure?"

She nods.

I smile and hug her.

"Have you told anyone yet?"

"No, not even Kyle," She says.

"Dr. Jacob told me today,"

"Congratulations,"

She starts crying.

"Brinley, I can't be pregnant. Annabella is a handful on her own,"

I chuckle. The hormones are setting in.

"At least you don't get to deal with marrying your son's mate off to someone else because of a contract,"

Katie sighs.

"You're right. I'm glad it's you and not me," She breathes relief.

"Gee, thanks," I mutter.

She shrugs.

"Now you gotta tell Kyle," I remind her, and her eyes widen.

"Fuck," She says, standing up.

I smirk and wave at her, and she rolls her eyes and mutters a few curse words.

"Caliana, it's okay. You have a vest on. You won't sink," I tell her.

She pouts, standing on the first step of the pool. All the kids and Kelsy, Katie, Amanda, Julia, and Delore were swimming today.

I'm in the water trying to get her to come in, but she refuses.

Bane walks up to her and grabs her hand.

"I'll come with you," He says.

Caliana smiles up at him and nods.

Bane walks backward down the steps facing Caliana so she won't be afraid. Once Caliana floats from the bottom step, she clings to Bane and screams.

I start moving to get her when Dominic swims past me, pulls Caliana into his arms, and shoves Bane.

"Leave my sister alone. Caliana is afraid of the water," He yells at Bane and swims her back to the steps.

"Here, Caliana, once you are ready to come in. I'll come to get you,"

Caliana sniffles and nods, tears pouring from her brown eyes.

Julia comes and stands beside me.

"Brinley, do you think this will get out of hand?"

I sigh.

"I'm not sure. I hope not the boys are such good friends," I tell her.

"I know. Dominic is sleeping over tonight,"

I smile.

"He told me it's his first sleepover. After that, he has never been away from me," I say.

"Are you sure you can handle this? If Dominic starts breathing funny are acting weird, he has his Nitro pills,"

Julia places her hand on my shoulder.

"Calm down, B; I got this," She assures me.

"Okay,"

Caliana went to bed early tonight, and I've been trying to focus on my book and not worry about Dominic. He hasn't been away from me in five years, and now I'm a nervous wreck.

"Are you okay?" Xander asks.

"Why would you ask that?" I frown.

He laughs.

"You've been on the same page for an hour. So either something is bothering you, or you are bored with the bok," He says, shaking his head.

I sigh.

Xander still knows me well.

"I've never had Dominic away from me,"

Xander grabs the book from my hands and sits it down.

"Brinley, Dom is six. He needs to spend time with his friends and be a boy,"
