Chapter 337: Politics and rivals...

Lyla

This revelation left me speechless. Lenny had a sister? A hybrid sister who was apparently on intimate terms with my mate?

Lenny turned to Circe. "Would you like to stay at my house tonight? It would give us a chance to catch up."

Circe sighed dramatically. "Fine. I don’t want Lyla and Ramsey to fight anyway." She winked at me. "Though a little jealousy can be healthy in a relationship, don’t you think?"

Without waiting for a response, she linked her arm through Lenny’s, and they walked out together, their animated conversation continuing as the door closed behind them.

An awkward silence fell over those of us remaining.

"Well," Terra said finally. "That was unexpected."

"You didn’t mention that Lenny has a sister," Nanny fired at Ramsey.

"I don’t go about giving details about my pack members’ genealogy, Miriam. Why are you offended?" Ramsey fired back. "Don’t forget your place, High Priestess. I do not answer to you."

Nanny wanted to say something, but decided against it. Terra whispered into her ears, and both disappeared, taking Caius with them. As soon as Ramsey and I were alone, I turned to him.

"Ramsey," I said, trying not to show my emotions through my voice." We need to talk."

"Lyla—" he began.

"Not here," I cut him off. "In private."

The bedroom was too far for me, so I led him toward his den while I tried to process everything.

Five million warriors had just arrived at our doorstep, led by a half-Lycan, half-witch who kissed my mate as casually as shaking hands, who happened to be Lenny’s sister, and who had a history with Ramsey that no one had bothered to mention to me.

And I thought learning about my twins and prophesied sacrifice was going to be the most shocking revelation of the day.

The twin moons would rise in three days. The Dark One would return, possibly with his army. And now we had a beautiful, powerful witch-hybrid in our midst, whose loyalties I couldn’t help but question, despite how much we needed the warriors she’d brought.

As I closed Ramsey’s den door behind us, I wondered if more surprises awaited me before this war ended.

I turned to Ramsey.

"Do you have any more surprises for me? Maybe a woman showing up with your baby next?"

Ramsey stared at me for a long moment before bursting into laughter. "You’re jealous! Oh my world, I thought this day would never come. You’re actually jealous."

I glared at him, crossing my arms over my chest. "Shouldn’t I be? She kissed you, and she’s been acting all flirty and seductive."

"That’s just how she is, Lyla," Ramsey explained, his laughter subsiding. "Circe and I have been friends since we were children. She grew up here and had to leave when she turned fourteen. Her father came for her because he couldn’t have children, so he trained her to be his heir.

"Isn’t her father a warlock?" I corrected him.

"Nope, her father was a Lycan, just like Lenny’s father. Her mother was the witch. She broke the rules of her coven and ran away. In the process, she got rescued by Lenny’s father. They fell in love, got married and had Lenny."

I suddenly realised the implications. "Wait. Is Lenny a witch, too?"

Ramsey shook his head, still smiling. "Unfortunately, he didn’t get that gene. Just the Lycan side."

I nodded slowly, processing this information. "I’m still not comfortable with all of this. There’s something about Circe that worries me."

Ramsey crossed the room, pulling me into his arms. "It’s nothing to worry about. I love you, Lyla. Only you," he murmured.

His lips found mine, gentle at first, then increasingly urgent. I melted against him, my earlier annoyance dissolving under the heat of his mouth. His tongue traced the seam of my lips, seeking entrance which I granted immediately. My hands slid beneath his shirt, feeling the hard planes of muscle beneath heated skin.

Ramsey backed me against his desk, lifting me easily to sit on its edge. With one sweep, the stack of papers on his desk scattered to the floor, forgotten as his mouth blazed a trail of fire down my neck.

His hands slipped under my top, fingers skimming along my ribs before cupping my breasts; this time, there was no bra as a barrier to stop him.

A moan escaped me as his thumbs circled my nipples, sending jolts of electricity straight to my core. I wrapped my legs around his waist, pulling him closer, feeling the evidence of his desire pressed firmly against me.
