The word echoed in Kane’s mind as he glanced past Wren, his eyes settling on the house behind her. His expression darkened. 

It had been years since he last set foot inside. Time had passed, but the memories remained. This house–once filled with warmth–had been the home he and Selene shared. 

After she left, the place became a hollow shell, suffocating in its emptiness. Unable to bear it, he had sworn never to return. Yet, here he was. Maybe he wanted to embrace that loneliness again.
