Chapter 230 novel The Beta's Regret (Eden and Eros)
It took a while before the door finally opened.
When it did, Eros came in, wet. Water dripped on the floor, and the clothes he wore stuck to him like a second skin.
He looked more attractive than ever even with the way he looked, but I refused to let my emotions sway.
I was angry, and I needed to let him know that I had seen him and his lover quarrel.
The first reaction Eros had when he saw me was surprise. He must have concluded that I was asleep before he stepped out, only to find me awake now that he was back.
I stepped closer to him and closed the space between us. I folded my hands at my side as the fury I felt intensified.
“How dare you?” I gritted out.
Eros frowned. He cocked his head to the side in confusion.
“What do you mean?” He asked.
I scoffed. “You know how I feel about her; how could you bring her here, of all places?”
When Eros still stayed glued to his look of confusion, I pointed at the window.
“I saw everything. I saw you with that snake, Susie. What was she doing here?”
Eros's eyes widened, and he looked past me towards the window. He must have seen that I had a clear view from up here. He immediately went still.
“You saw everything?” Eros asked.
“Yes, everything!” I yelled.
I faced him head-on and jabbed a finger at his shoulder. "Why?!"
Eros pursed his lips, his face set in a taut expression “I didn't bring her here.” He said.
I laughed. “Really? Then why was she with you? How did she have access to enter the palace grounds?
Eros Shrugged. “Her father is an Elder. Susie doesn't need special access, she already had one.”
“Does that also mean she can see you whenever you want?” I narrowed my gaze on him.
Eros rolled his eyes but didn't answer.
I laughed bitterly and turned away. A long silence stretched between us as I wrung my hands together before I turned back to him angrily.
“Have you been having an affair with her?”
“What?” Eros frowned.
“Don't you dare lie to me.” I bit out. “This isn't the first time you have both been together.”
I threw my face to the side and sniffed. “Do you love her? Is that what all your attitude has been about? Are you tired of me? Do you want me out of your life?” I screamed out.
My breaths came quicker as tears streamed down my face. Pain flooded my chest, and all I could do was hear the way my heart shattered.
Eros frowned. “Come off it, Eden. I'm not in the mood.”
He's not in the mood. That was his answer.
Eros paused, his face tightly set in a deadly frown.
“Why would you say that to me?” I was deeply hurt.
“All you do is complain. Susie was only trying to help, but you decided to make a big deal out of nothing. The only thing you do is nag.”
That minute I lost it. I slapped Eros hard across his face. The sound filling the room, and we looked at each other in shock. Eros touched his face, the disbelief clear as day.
I stared at my hands, my eyes tearing up immediately “I'm sorry,” I said quickly.
Eros ignored me. He just turned around and stormed out of the room.
I hurried after him, but Eros was moving too fast; I was unable to catch up.
Soon, we were out in the rain. The rain fell against my skin, and I shivered.
“Eros!” I called out desperately. “I'm sorry. Please come back.”
I cried out before he disappeared into the thick darkness. I fell to the floor in a heap as I cried louder. My palms grabbed the floor as I wailed. I gasped as cold seeped into my skin. I shivered.
Suddenly, I felt dizzy, and tried to steady myself, but it was impossible. The world spun around me, and my sight became blurred.
“Eros,” I called softly as I began to slip into the darkness of fatigue.
Before I finally gave in, I saw a figure like Eros's, but the warmth was lacking when he took me into his arms.
