(Lord Shevek’s Pov)

“At first, Griffin and Theo were deep in conversation when they came in, so they didn't notice if anything went wrong.” I said.

Eden cocked her head to the side curiously. “What were they talking about?”

“Something about an attack on Coronation Day.” I watched Eden.

She gasped. “Eros?”

I nodded. “Griffin was convinced that the little cult they had formed with King Pison held more power and that it was the future.” I frowned. “Those were his words. And apparently they were ready to launch an attack to take over, but he wanted Theo to be a part of it.”

Adonis moved closer; the baby in his arms whined softly as if to protest the movement he made.

“What did Theo say?” Adonis asked.

“The younger man had no interest in it. He couldn't see things the way Griffin saw them.” I scoffed. “I wasn't surprised. Theo struck me as a very selfish wolf.”

“Then why was Theo still working with Griffin?” Eden asked.

I sighed and nudged my head in her direction. “For you.”

“Me?” Eden squeaked.

I nodded in response.

I took a moment to look around and observed that everyone had surrounded us, even though a large number of them wasn’t paying attention to our conversations.

“Theo wanted you. Griffin must have promised him that he will get you to him, and that was all he was after.”

“But why me?” Eden frowned.

I shrugged.

“I have no idea, but I knew that as long as I was alive, Theo wasn't going to lay his nasty claw on my daughter.” my jaws clenched.

“I became interested in the conversation when it involved you.”

I fixed my gaze on Eden’s face, and allowed her to see the kind of love I had for her. She was my daughter, and I would die before I let anyone take her. My miracle.

My mind went back to that moment when I pretended to still be unconscious, while Griffin and Theo conversed.

From where I lay, I saw Griffin bit his lips behind Theo. There was hatred in Griffin’s eyes, and I wondered how he was still working with Theo.

I figured Griffin was just using Theo.

I brought my mind back to the conversation as I narrated what happened next.

“Theo finally decided to check on me.” I sighed. “He came closer to the table and inspected me.”

I still remember the confusion I saw on Theo’s face when he finally grasped that the dagger was no longer in my body. I opened my eyes to let him know that I was now awake.

However before he could say a word to Griffin, I sunk my claws into him and pulled out his heart.

Theo’s eyes had gone wide and empty of life before his body fell down to the ground in a small heap.

“Griffin fell to the floor and saw Luna Belle’s body. He became enraged that I killed his wife.” I paused. “The knife that Luna Belle had removed from me was beside her; Griffin took it and tried hard to stab me with it.”

I touched my scar and swallowed hard.

“He finally got me and slashed my face with it. I was bleeding, and the pain was excruciating.”

Eden’s gaze softened as she pursed her lips.

I looked at Rose, who kept dabbing at her eyes with a handkerchief. “That was when I knew that Griffin was still hung up on Rose. He said he would ruin my face so Rose would be unable to look at me again.”

He also mentioned that he would keep my Beloved and rape her all the days of her life.

That was what made me lose my mind. Before Griffin could say another word, I gripped him by the throat and slashed his chest with my claws. Blood oozed, and I growled in satisfaction.

“I almost killed Griffin; just as I was about to sever his head, Olivia came in and screamed. She begged me to take Rose and pardon him.”

“Did you?” Eden frowned.

I nodded. “I did. I couldn't hurt someone you love.” I said softly.

Eden nodded.

“I spared Griffin, but not without plucking out one of his eyes.” I pointed to my scar. “He left me with something, and I gave him one too. An eye for an eye.”

“Then I took my beloved and escaped.” I said
