Dr. Peter was taken aback to discover that Brittany's distress was due to matters of the heart.

"Miss, did he make the first move?"

"No, I've only seen him a few times," Brittany clarified. "It was love at first sight. For the past six months, I've felt like I was missing something crucial. When I saw him, it was as if I found what I had lost."

Dr. Peter smiled gently. "Have you talked to Mr. Lynette about this?"

"Not yet," Brittany shook her head. "I was hoping to keep this between us for now."

Falling for a married man wasn't something to be proud of. If her father found out, she'd be mortified.

Dr. Peter lowered his gaze. "Miss, we can't control who we fall for, but there's a natural order to these things. If he's already got a family and he reciprocated, that's on him."

Brittany was vague, but from her demeanor, Dr. Peter could tell she was holding back. He didn't press her for more details.
