Blood dripped from between Isaac’s fingers, blurring his vision. 

He staggered back and propped himself up on a desk, his voice hoarse, “If you don’t want the Dillion family to go belly-up, you’d best stop meddling or…” 

“I am meddling this!” Brittany cut him off, her gaze unwavering, “Isaac, I beg you, let me go.” 

Isaac felt like he’d just been hit by lightning. 

“I genuinely liked you. Could you at least stop hurting me for the sake of that?” 

Brittany took a deep breath. She had to admit that she’s been living under Isaac’s shadow for years. 

Now she had nothing left, so why wouldn’t he leave her alone? 

Was there still something she had that he could exploit? 

Isaac moved closer in desperation, “I know I’ve messed up, so give me another chance.” 

Brittany felt that she had nothing to talk to him. She closed her eyes, “Please, just get out.” 

Isaac had never seen Brittany like this. She was like a block of ice, her coldness biting. He felt a pang in his chest. 

Isaac wiped the blood from his forehead, his voice choked up, “I won’t let the Dillion family off the hook. If you insist on being with him, don’t expect to live happily ever after.” 

With that, he slammed the door behind him. 

Brittany punched the desk hard, her lips burned. She grabbed a tissue, wiped away all traces of Isaac, and clenched her fists tight. 

After leaving the Dustin Group, Isaac still felt lost. 

As night fell, the city seemed shrouded in fog. 

In the chillness, he walked the streets alone while everyone else around him was chatting happily. 

He had only intended to teach the Dillion family a lesson and make William back off. 

But he hadn’t expected his actions to bring Brittany and William closer. 

The throbbing on his forehead was driving him mad, his chest felt like it was ensnared in a tangled mess. 

Nathan rushed over after receiving the call. He was taken aback seeing Isaac covered in blood, “Mr. Salter; are you okay?” 

Isaac was numb to the pain, “I’m fine.” 

Nathan helped Isaac into the car and took him to the hospital. While Isaac’s wounds were being tended to, Grace Salter called 

Nathan picked up, “Grace, it’s me.” 

“Alright, Mr. Salter is busy at the moment, I’ll let him know.” 

After hanging up, Nathan walked into the room and whispered, “Mr. Salter, Grace just called. Ms. Bennett has visited the Manor and she left an invitation for you.” 

“An invitation?” 

Isaac had blood on his jacket, he took it off and revealed a gray shirt underneath with the sleeves rolled up, showing off his muscular arms. He looked noble and cold but mostly just cold. 

“Yes, Ms. Bennett is getting engaged.” 

“I see.”
