Isaac burst in and scanned the room frantically. “How did you get hurt?” 

Daniel was half asleep, and Brittany instinctively covered his ears, whispering a warning. “Lower your voice.” 

He was just about to fall asleep, and if he got disturbed again, he’d be in pain. 

Isaac regretted his hasty action after seeing her response. 

Once Daniel fell asleep, Brittany opened the door, and Isaac followed closely. “What happened?” 

“Because of you, William was hospitalized for gastric bleeding, and the Dillion family came looking for us.” 

Brittany’s words carried a hint of blare toward him, and Isaac frowned slightly. 

“Did you get hurt?” 

Brittany shook her head. “No, but since you’re here, you take care of Daniel. I need to go out.” 

“Where are you going?” 

Isaac swiftly grabbed her hand, his gaze turning serious. “Are you going to see William?” 

“You guys already broke up; why would you go see him?” 

Brittany shook off his hand. “Isaac, we’re over too. Who I visit is my business, and you have no right to control me!”_ 

If it weren’t for Isaac, she and William wouldn’t have gotten to this point. 

She had known William for so many years and never saw him drunk. This time, he drank until he got gastric bleeding. She felt guilty and wished she could bear the pain for him. 

Isaac let go of her hand, and Brittany walked away swiftly. 

William was transferred to a VIP ward, and Timothy left early due to work. 

Mrs. Dillion stayed in the room. 

When William woke up, Mrs. Dillion held him and cried, but he just stared blankly at the ceiling, showing no reaction. 

Brittany arrived at William’s room, took a deep breath, and knocked. 

“Someone’s here.” 

Mrs. Dillion wiped her tears, tried to hold back her sobs, opened the door, and upon seeing Brittany, she immediately tried to close it again. “What are you doing here? Get out! You’re not welcome here. Don’t bother my son!” 

“Mrs. Dillion…” 

Brittany reacted quickly, and she held the door open. 

But Mrs. Dillion was quicker and shut the door. 

“Ah!” 

Brittany cried out in pain, and Mrs. Dillion noticed that her hand was caught in the door. There was a bruise on her fingers, which looked painful. 

Mrs. Dillion let go, and Brittany pushed the door open, bearing the pain. “Mrs. Dillion, I have a few words to say. Can I have a few minutes alone with William?” 

Mrs. Dillion looked at her son lying on the bed, refusing to speak, and after a moment of silence, she said, “Brittany, you and my son have already broken up. For the sake of the many years he loved you, please stop hurting him, okay?” 

Brittany’s eyes reddened instantly. She understood Mrs. Dillion’s resentment towards her. Holding back her tears, she pleaded. “Mrs. Dillion, I just want to say a few words. I promise I won’t show up again.” 

Mrs. Dillion left without a word. 

Brittany walked into the room. William saw her and stared at her as if he wanted to etch her deeply into his heart. 

Brittany felt a pang of sadness. 

She walked to his bedside, looking at his gaunt face as her heart ached. “Why did you drink so much?” 

William was not a fan of alcohol unless it was necessary. 

“I felt like having some.”
