Joie turned around to see none other than Leda, who had disappeared for five years. 

“Leda, what are you doing here?” 

Joie frowned, remembering how, five years prior, Isaac Salter put Manuel Salter behind bars. Leda and her kid then vanished into thin air. Joie had almost forgotten about Leda. 

Leda, elegantly dressed in a white suit, looked just the same as she did five years before. 

“Ms. Joie, this isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go somewhere else.” 

But Joie wanted nothing to do with Leda, knowing she wasn’t someone to be messed with. 

“Sorry, I don’t have the time.” 

She was about to leave when Leda spoke up, “Ms. Joie, it’s been five years since we last saw each other. Are you trying to cut ties with me? If so, I’ll have to spill the beans about what happened five years ago to Isaac.”

Taking a deep breath, Joie turned around and said, “Fine, let’s talk.” 

Brittany returned to her apartment to find Mia cooking some late-night snacks in the kitchen. 

Hearing her, Mia came out to greet her, “Ms. Dustin.” 

“Where’s Daniel?” 

“He’s already gone to bed.” 

Mia smiled and said, “I’ll have the late-night snacks ready soon. Eat something before you go to bed.” 

Brittany returned to her room to shower. When she came out, she saw her phone ringing. 

She picked it up and felt a lump in her throat when she saw it was William Dillion. 

Taking a deep breath, she answered, “William?” 

“Bri, let’s meet up when you’re free.” 

William’s voice sounded hoarse, probably due to a lack of rest. 

Brittany’s heart ached slightly, “William, do you need something?” 

There was a long silence before William finally replied, sounding somewhat down, “Bri, can’t I call you if there’s nothing wrong? We’re still friends, aren’t we?” 

Hearing that made Brittany even more upset, “Of course you can.” 

She paused for a moment before saying, “I’m busy on set lately. I’ll see you when I’m free. How’s your recovery?”

“I’m doing well,” said William. “And you?” 

“I’ve joined a production team as a jewelry stylist. Everything’s going smoothly.”
