Chapter 727

Brittany didn’t even spare a glance, striding away.

Joie bit her lip, a hint of loathing in her eyes; she wanted to kick Brittany out of the drama crew once and for all.

Pushing that thought aside, Joie headed straight for Grandeur Capital.

Upon her arrival, the secretary formalized with a sigh, “Miss Joie, I’m sorry, but you need an appointment to see Mr. Salter.”

Was Joie a regular at that point?

She was at Grandeur Capital every day. Didn’t she get that Marcel didn’t want to see her?

Joie was about to explode, ready to pull rank, when a voice called out.

“Miss Zella.” The secretary’s impatience vanished with the arrival of Zella, replaced by a warm smile, “Are you here to see Mr. Salter?”

“Uh-huh, I brought lunch.”

Zella smiled gently.

Marcel and his mother might not have favored her, but the secretary who had served Marcel for years knew that there were feelings between them and thus treated her very well.

“Right this way.”

Zella noticed Joie. She had heard rumors about Joie visiting Marcel every day, but she couldn’t care less.

Marcel was not the kind of man to be won over by a few meal If it were that simple, she wouldn’t have had to put in so much effort over the years.

With the secretary leading Zella away, Joie stared at her retreating figure, a strange light flickering in her eyes.

Once Zella reached the office, she saw that Marcel had just finished a meeting. His expression softened upon seeing her, an alteration not missed by the sharp eyes of the secretary, who became increasingly respectful towards Zella.

Perhaps even Marcel didn’t realize that whenever Zella appeared, he would magically soften, like ice that had been frozen for a thousand years melting into a puddle of water.

Zella walked into the office and put down the lunch box she was carrying, “You look awful. Tough day at work?”

Marcel gestured her over, “Come here. Help me with a head massage.”

All the issues at Grandeur Capital weighed heavily on him, giving him a headache.

Zella moved to his side and began to massage his head.

As Marcel looked up, he could see her fair, clean face.

Indeed, Zella was the best, always there by his side.

They both stayed silent, afraid that any words might disturb the rare peaceful moment.

After half an hour, Marcel grabbed Zella’s hand, “That’s enough.”

Zella released his head, “You should eat.”

She opened the lunch box, revealing a bowl of soup she had prepared herself.

“My father wants to know when we’re getting married?” Seeing that Marcel was in a good mood, Zella hesitated before asking.

They had been engaged for five years by that time, and their daughter Nova was already over four, yet he never mentioned marriage.

Marcel paused with his soup, “Aren’t we finejust the way we are?”

To him, marriage wasn’t something desirable. He didn’t want to cage them in the institution of marriage, nor did he want to be tied down for life.
