Chapter 18

My face turned red in an instant. “Y–Yes, I know!” I stammered, completely surprised and

embarrassed.

I dared to marry Lukas Strakovski, so I was prepared for this.

I wasn’t a promiscuous woman, but I wasn’t overly conservative either. I believed in finding a balance that worked for me and marrying him was a part of that.

It was a decision I made to protect myself from impending disasters, even if it meant making certain

crifices.

Since I had taken on the identity of someone’s wife, I couldn’t expect everything to go smoothly. However, despite my readiness, I still hoped that this day could come a little later. After all, me and Lukas were strangers just a short while ago. The suddenness of it all had left me with mixed

emotions.

On the way, Lukas remained silent, even during the meal, he was infuriatingly quiet.

After finishing their meal, I took the initiative to leave.

After all, I still had a tough battle to fight in the afternoon!

Before parting ways, Lukas glanced at me and said, “No matter what you are going to do, my assistant will come to pick you up at exactly 7 in the evening. Tonight is our wedding night, don’t forget!”

I blushed. “I know!” I said that and hurriedly left.

Watching my figure walking away, the assistant couldn’t help but comment, “Not only does Miss Sophia sound like Miss Scholl when she speaks, but she even has a slight resemblance in looks.

Lukas’s gaze swept over him like a sharp blade. “After following me for so long, I thought you had some sense of knowing when to speak and when not to.”

The assistant immediately looked frightened. “Apologies, Mr. Strakovski! I shouldn’t have said anything!”

Lukas paused for a moment, then continued, “Also, they look completely different!”

assistant trembled and looked like he was about to cry, “I’m sorry Mr. Strakovski. I shouldn’t be

talking too much!”

Lukas didn’t respond to his words. “Follow her, and if anything happens, act immediately!” He

ordered his assistant instead.

The assistant nodded immediately and fixed his composure. “I’ll be on my way now, Mr. Strakovski!”

“Remember, my people are not ones that anyone can bully. Understand?” Lukas’s expression was cold, proud, and imposing, like a deity on a shrine, noble and untouchable.

The assistant nodded repeatedly and turned to leave, still feeling embarrassed from his sudden

outburst earlier.

soon as the assistant left, Lukas’s phone suddenly rang, and his face visibly twitched at the sound.

“Hello?” Lukas answered the phone, his tone so cold it was suffocating.

“Lukas, I heard you got married to someone else?” Emily Scholl can be heard at the other end of the

line, her voice carried a hint of crying.

‘No way! I’ve met his former girlfriend in person and they don’t match in height! Seriously, they’re probably just doing this for publicity!‘ Another netizen posted.

“Could it be that this is another two–timing incident? Isn’t he afraid of being caught?” Another netizen posted.

cumbag or not, who knows? Maybe they already called the relationship off in private! This is just a publicity stunt. Everyone, stay calm and watch!”

‘How is this possible? Just yesterday they were photographed by the paparazzi, gleefully participating in a city–level jewellery competition!‘

“Anyway, to have a real girlfriend, to get a certificate with the mysterious woman, and to not be afraid of being caught, I can only say that this man right here is the G.O.A.T! Mad respect, my guy!”

“To sum this comment up, all men are the same: up to no good!”

“Stop generalizing! I’m a good guy and I’m still here!”

Seeing the comments getting more and more biased and absurd, I sneered.

At this moment, Hugo called.

“Sophia, where are you? The reporters are here, we’re waiting for you to come and hold the press

conference. Look at what the people have been saying to me on the Internet!”

Hearing Hugo’s anxious tone, I raised a mocking smile. “I’m downstairs at the company!”

After I finished speaking, I hung up and went upstairs.

When Hugo saw me, he immediately grabbed me, as if I was his lifeline, and hurriedly led me to the press conference venue.

“You should know what to say to the reporters later,” Hugo instructed urgently.
