Epilogue

6 months later

"My birthday can wait Kian, I've been waiting for this confirmation email for ages and today could be the day I finally get it" I say pushing Kian's arm away from pulling me away from my desk.

Kian was my assistant. My old assistant since Thomas left to start his own creative agency which was totally unexpected but I was full on board. He had a lot more skills that should have been used for more than following me around.

" not when my ass will be handed to me for not getting you there on time. Come on Selly I thought we were over making my life so hard" he grunted as he managed to get me up from my seat.

I sent him a harsh look. " I don't appreciate your tone Kian. Just go and sort my schedule or something" I spat at him pulling away from him and getting back to my desk.

Kian grunted but finally left my office and let me continue my work in peace.

Or that is what I thought as I watched Jackie parade into my office, clicking her fingers as she approached me.

" oh come on" I mumble already pulling away from my desk and catching Kian smug smirk from outside. When he first started to work for me I tried to be a strict boss however as the weeks passed Kian realised I was anything but that. The dynamic in the office was incredibly relaxed so now he takes pride in walking all over me.

Jackie was part of the companies security. Kate decided on enlisting her here to keep an eye on me at work when she couldn't. Jackie was visibly bigger than Kate and has many times, dragged me out of this office with ease.

" Nick will have all our asses if you're not there in time" She says pulling me out of the office.

I don't why they are so scared of him, he's just a big softy really. Ever since the award show me and Nick have been getting on so well. Work is busier and half the time we fail to find time for ourselves but when we do we make the most of it.

The award show was a great plus for the business. We were thrown into the light and eyes were on us more than ever.

I didn't think that I would like the attention instead I welcomed it. Today is my birthday and I do know that Nick and James had planned a celebration for me.

When I say they I mean James's girlfriend. After the award show James came out to tell us that he was seeing this girl.

In true style he decided to not warn us however he did bring her to the celebratory dinner that night.

Kirsty was a event manager for this big company and has been a true joy when planning these big events. She was also a true joy at managing James which was a relief to both me and Nick. James no longer showed up unannounced since he spent most of his time with her.

I walked out of the building and had to put my lips together as I stared at Ben who was clearly forced to wear this ridiculous hat.

" please just take the bag and get in the car Selly" Ben said clearly irritated. I pulled at my coat and grabbed the bag from his hand. " thank you benny. For this and for that" I said motioning to his hat.

I leant up and kissed his cheek.

He grunted and simply opened the door for me to get inside. When he got into his seat he ripped off the hat and breathed a big sigh of relief.

" just no more talking about the hat" he said as he put the car into gear and signalled off.

I shook my head. " my lips are sealed"

He hummed as he drove off. I leant back in my chair and let benny drive away in peace.

It's crazy to think how much my life has changed but in reality its not changed that much. Its more of the people around me.

Benny arrived at the house in good time. One of the biggest changes was that me and Nick bought a house. It was nice to be able to come back to Nick and call somewhere home.

" How many people are here" I asked Ben as he parked the car and walked up next to me.

" like everyone" Hannah said coming over to me. She quickly wrapped her arms around me giving me the tightest squeeze ever.

"happy birthday bitch" she practically screamed in my ear before conner could even grab her from me.

She had a hand placed over her mouth as conner whispered something into her ear. Her eyes widened significantly.

"oh shit" she mumbled only for conner to place his hand over her mouth yet again.

I shook my head and turned to find my family and possibly my boyfriend.

" hey ma" I whispered as I leant my head on her shoulder. She was in the kitchen watching my father cook something for the party.

" happy birthday honey, you want a dumpling?" he offered me to which I didn't even think twice about as I grabbed it from him.

" what its her birthday" he shrugged at the narrowed eyes of my mother who clearly wasn't pleased with dad already offering me food.

" yeah but these are for her guests not her" she argued with him. I couldn't stand around to hear them bicker back and forth any longer.

I turned on my heel and searched for him. It wasn't really surprising that it didn't take me long to find him. Towering over the many guests he was guiding people through the house.

Jake who had left the office was earlier than me, was stood next to Nick and when he saw me he tapped Nick on the shoulder.

It was like slow motion as he turned to me. Those gorgeous warm eyes searched mine and a giant grin came upon his face. In good time, Nick made it to me. Without a second to waste he pulled me to his waist with his large hands and buried his face into my neck.

"hey beautiful, what took you so long" he hummed against my skin.

Damn it, how can a man smell so good. I brought my fingers through his hair. His hair was different now. One day he came home with a darker shade of brown and it did surprise me but I actually loved it. If it was even possible, the man became more handsome.

" wait, don't tell me I think I already know" he says leaning back but not pulling away.

I narrow my eyes. " speaking of which, come with me I must show you something" I had no words as Nick pulled me with him. He ran up upstairs and made a right into one of the rooms.

The green and white wallpaper brought a friendly atmosphere to the house that was always full of business and sometimes pleasure.

Nick disappeared into the little room round the corner and I could hear his whispers.

" Nick, what's going on" I stepped forward looking for him but stopped suddenly when two pairs of legs moved out from the little room.

Nick stood behind them with the most cheekiest grin I have ever seen him wear.

" I'm...what how did you even get these without me knowing" I said as I bent down.

As soon as I was down to their level their bright blue eyes looked up at me.

" forget I asked that" I mumbled knowing full well that most people at my office go behind my back and especially to my boyfriend.

" Mum, Joseph took the one I wanted" Lucas said with a grumpy tone.

I stared at them both seeing that Joseph was wearing the blue jacket which was Lucas's favourite colour.

This is another big thing that has changed since that night.

5 months ago, Nick came home from the hospital with a request that I honestly thought was ridiculous. I had no idea how to react and honestly my first answer was no. no way.

To even think about taking in two boys who had just lost their mother in a horrible accident in the city. But when Nick tricked me into meeting them for the first time it was completely out of the question for me to say no.

" Dad gave me this jacket. Your not going to argue with him are you" Joseph said smugly.

Nick tried to hid his laugh behind his sleeve but failed miserably.

After watching the boys laugh as they tried to fit into the jackets I made I started to draft designs for a kids collection. Jack was open to the idea, he always was. I think that's what made us so successful as a partnership. He was always open to my creative ideas and never ran away from any challenges.

He was my business partner but also my best friend.

But this was what I waiting for earlier. Now I know why I never got the email because Nick was behind it all. Just like he always was.

" Mummy's got more of them Lucas don't worry" I said as I sorted out his collar. I was proud with how they turned out. The boys looked great.

The adoption process was a crazy time in my life but I didn't think I was doing something wrong or out of my element. I loved them like my own and would continue to until their either don't want me anymore or I die.

" Boys are you forgetting something" Nick says suddenly grabbing the boys attention.

They both looked up at Nick before Lucas broke out in a scream and lunged himself at me.

" sorry mama happy birthday" he said into my ear as he grabbed onto me tight.

Joseph followed soon after. " happy birthday mama"

I hugged both of them tightly. Never would I have through that in 6 months' time after receiving that award. That I would have two boys calling me their mother.

" you boys look good. How do you feel about modelling these for me" I said looking at them both.

Their eyes lit up. " you mean with that pretty girl who gives us doughnuts" Joseph asked to which Nick chuckled.

" yes, why do you have a crush" I said pinching at his cheeks.
