Chapter 285 

The woman’s eyes were tightly closed as Lucian helped her into the car Seeing her disheveled clothes, his brows furrowed and his expression turned icy cold. He got out of the car again and walked towards the middle–aged man who was already unconscious on the ground. 

About five seconds later, a man’s agonizing scream echoed down the empty street. 

“Argh-” 

Midnight, 12 o’clock, at Magnolia Gardens 

James stepped out of the bedroom, nodding at Lucian. “It’s all good. She passed out from inhaling too much ether. A good sleep will fix that.” 

In the study. 

Lucian sat on the couch, legs crossed. His previously tense expression now relaxed. 

James walked over “You worried about her? Don’t trust my medical skills?” 

Lucian’s voice was cold. “Who said I was worried about her?” 

“Not worried about her? Then why did you call me over in the middle of night?” James knew Lucian all too well. 

There was something about this woman, Allison, that always triggered different emotions in Lucian. 

Lucian seemed to have his thoughts exposed, his face taut with displeasure. “You can leave now.” 

“Ouch, you’re kicking me out now that you’re done with me? That’s cold, James sat leisurely on the couch, tapping his knee. I’ve decided to spend the night here” 

Lucian flashed a small smile and pulled out his phone. “Hello, I’m the resident of building A. Can you send your security over? There is a…” 

James immediately stood up “Alright, alright, I get it. I’ll leave on my own” He chuckled, ‘Don’t let me interrupt your good time with Allison!” 

As James walked to the door, he was suddenly stopped by Lucian. “James, is there a way to determine the DNA of a fetus while the woman is still pregnant?” 

James turned around, stroking his chin There is, but it’s not accurate. Best to wait until the baby is born, that’s more precise.” 

He frowned at Lucian’s expression “Are you suspecting that the child in Penelope’s belly…” 

Lucian simply nodded. 

James said, “It’s indeed a serious matter. But Penelope saved your life, I don’t think she would…” 

Lucian interrupted, I know Penelope saved me and I promised to marry her, but that doesnt mean she has the right to trick me into it” 

‘Four more months, James calculated. In four months, whether the child is yours or not will naturally be known. But don’t you find Penelope a bit… odd?” Lucian lit a cigarette, raising an eyebrow upon hearing that “Odd how?” 

James didn’t have much contact with Penelope, but he didn’t like her. This woman seemed innocent and kind, but he had witnessed her slap Allison hard across the face. Her aggressive side was not at all like the gentle demeanor she put on in front of Lucian 

“Dont you think she’s a bit hypocritical? In front of you, she appears very gentle, but in private, she is completely different.” James said leisurely, ‘Maybe she just wants to show her best side to you, which is not entirely wrong.”
