Chapter 316
Sarah said, “Yeah, I know, you’re Mrs. Flanagan”
She sounded cool and polite, no buttering up, it was like she didn’t give a hoot about the fancy lady in front of her. At the Red Jack Club, she’d seen plenty of high and mighty women. Some did demand respect, but this woman, who casually ordered her to fire people, was not one of them.
Leah stared at Sarah, studying her face. Then she got up, looking a tad miffed, as if her dignity had been bruised. Leah hadn’t expected a manager to defy her after knowing her identity.
“Ms. Sarah.” she said, ‘my daughter is the future Mrs. Lindberg. Are you sure you want to cross me?”
Sarah shrugged inwardly, even feeling a tad disdainful. So her daughter wasn’t Mrs. Lindberg yet. She dared to use that as a threat? Quick as a flash, she replied. “Mrs. Flanagan, what are you talking about? Is not firing Allison the same as crossing you? That’s a bit of a stretch, don’t
you think?”
Sarah had been working at Red Jack Club for a decade; this wasn’t her first rodeo with threats. If she caved every time someone tried to bully her, she wouldn’t have kept her job as manager.
Usually smooth as silk, Sarah raised an eyebrow slightly, “Mrs. Flanagan, I have a meeting shortly. If you’ve got nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”
Felt free to take a seat in her office.
Sarah turned around, picked up a file from her desk, and was ready to head out when Leah stormed out first, looking rather peeved.
Sarah stood still, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow slightly. What on earth had Allison done to tick off Mrs. Flanagan?
What a pain.
Leah was seething. She stormed out and saw a woman in a red suit, roughly 30, standing at the door: The woman smiled, “Mrs. Flanagan, nice to meet you. I’m Serena, the deputy manager here.”
Leah eyed Serena, “So you’re a manager too.”
Serena stepped closer to Leah. In her high heels, she towered half a head taller than Leah. She bent down slightly, ‘Mrs. Flanagan, if there’s anything that Sarah didn’t help you with, may I assist? Sarah can be high-handed sometimes. She’s got backers and doesn’t respect anyone’s dignity at the Red Jack Club.”
Leah had just been snubbed in Sarahis office. Serena, however, was offering her the respect she wanted and she smiled. This woman knew the score.
In Serena’s office.
Leah put it straight, ‘Find a reason, fire Allison.”
She was determined to make it impossible for Allison to get a job in Northfield, not even as a waitress.
She couldn’t go back to school, which meant no degree.
