In the deputy director’s office at the hospital. 

“Hello? Mr. David, I’ve done everything as you directed. You can chill out. Nothing’s gonna go wrong.” 

The other end of the phone seemed to say something. 

The deputy director’s face was plastered with a big grin, “Alright, alright. As for the thing you promised… Ah, I can rest easy then.” He hung up, picked up a cup of coffee with satisfaction, and took a leisurely sip. Do you realize what would happen if Lucian found out? Not even I could save your ass then! You’ve got some nerve pulling off something like this without telling me! If Jett hadn’t found out and told me, I wouldn’t even know you guys planned something this big today!” 

Pete clenched his teeth, “Even if you hadn’t interfered, I wouldn’t have messed up. Lucian wouldn’t have found out. You think I can’t do anything right, that I’m useless, then why did you even bother having me, raising me? Dad, am I really that worthless in your eyes? Since I can never measure up to Lucian, why do you bother protecting me? You might as well hand me over to the Lindberg family!” 

“YOU!” David’s blood pressure shot up out of anger at his son’s words, almost passing out. 

“You insolent son!” He slammed his hand down on the table. 

Pete knelt on the carpet, silent. 

David looked at his son’s angry expression, slamming his hand on the table again. He was a tall and imposing figure, naturally commanding. Now his face was flushed with anger, which made Pete terrified. 

“Speak! Explain everything about this whole thing, and your relationship with Penelope! If you dare to omit a single detail, I’ll show you no mercy!” 

“I’ve known Penelope for a long time. I met her at a party. After the party, we got together. At that time, Penelope hadn’t met Lucian yet. She’s a party girl, and we’ve had sex a few times.
