His lips silenced hers as Allison found herself seated on his lan 

On the movie screen, the leads were passionately kissing in what was clearly a heartwarming rom-com. 

Allison’s cheeks were flushed and her heart was racing at the boldness of Lucian’s actions. However, when she returned to her own seat, she found that it wasn’t just this man who was daring. Almost all the couples in the cinema were making out. 

Lucian felt a familiar sensation of thrill. His eyes fell upon the woman’s profile; bathed in the dim movie theatre lights, she looked absolutely gorgeous. This was the first time he ever felt the desire to spend the rest of his life with a woman.

At 10 p.m., “Goodbye.” Allison said, waving at the man as she got off the car. 

Lucian’s car remained parked outside her apartment complex, not leaving until Allison’s silhouette disappeared from sight. He then lit a cigarette, took a few drags, and pulled out his phone. Several news notifications popped up. 

Entertainment journalists always rushed in like dogs sniffing out fresh news, their words sharp and cutting. They didn’t care whether the news was true or not, they just blew it up big to attract viewers. Even if they got sued for spreading false rumors, they’d only pay a small fine. The profits they gained from the publicity would have already covered their losses. 

Countless news outlets reported that Penelope was critically injured and in a coma after trying to save Miranda, and the Lindberg family was planning to call off the marriage. 

Even the rich and powerful didn’t keep their promises, which drew much scorn. Yet, for Lindberg Corporation, it didn’t make much of a difference. Their stocks might fluctuate but not by much. Still, it was a considerable amount of public pressure, especially since so many people were watching the Lindberg family. 

George had just left and such a thing occurred. If he didn’t marry Penelope, he might have to give up the management rights of Lindberg Corporation to someone else. The man clenched his fist. 

Returning to the Lindberg residence, Carter was still up. Upon seeing him, the servant said, “Mr. Lindberg, Carter asked you to go to the study on the second floor when you return.” 

Lucian shed his suit jacket, tossed it to the servant, and ascended the stairs. 

In the study, Zachary was also present. 

Lucian entered and greeted, “Grandpa, Dad.” 

Carter looked at him and said, “Sit.” 

Lucian sat down across from Carter. 

Carter sighed softly, “The current public opinion is not in favor of our family. I want to know your thoughts.” 

“The incident happened abruptly, but it’s clear that someone tampered with the chandelier. I’ve asked people to investigate, but there’s 

no concrete information yet. It’s evident that the perpetrator had been planning this for a long time.” Lucian said. 

Zachary asked, “What’s their motive? To harm Miranda? But what good does harming Miranda do them? If they really wanted to hurt us, they would be better off targeting me!”
