Chapter 413 

Allison was cooking, the range hood was running, so she didn’t notice the man approaching from behind. 

The air was filled with the smell of food. 

A hand reached around her waist from behind. Allison was taken aback for a moment, but then she looked down to see a man’s slender, clean fingers. Only then did she realize that Lucian had arrived. 

She still had the cooking utensils in her hand. Allison wanted to turn around, but the man held her tightly, resting his chin on her shoulder. 

Her shoulders were thin, all bones, and Lucian found it a bit hard. He took a deep sniff of the cherry blossom scent on her neck and said, “Do you not eat? You’re so skinny.” 

Allison turned down the gas stove flame slightly and suddenly felt that Lucian was a bit off tonight. She asked, “Is there something bothering you at work?” She had seen those news reports. For Lucian, those were all hassles. 

Lucian had been back in the country for less than ten months, the internal fighting within Lindberg Corporation was already intense, and Carter had handed the management of Lindberg Corporation to Lucian. He had managed well for these ten months, but now there was a problem. Due to the mishap at the charity dinner, Lindberg Corporation’s shares started to fall. Although the drop was small, just a minor fluctuation, Lucian couldn’t ignore it. 

He held her, suddenly lifted her hips, and put her on the table. Allison exclaimed as Lucian kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and they kissed passionately. 

The only sound in the room was their panting as they kissed. 

Outside, Lucky was having a great time, running around with a ball in its mouth. 

Three minutes later, the long kiss ended, and Lucian let go of her. His voice was hoarse, “Allison, I’m marrying Penelope next month.” 

Allison’s pupils flickered. Their passionate kiss was still going on when his words made her feel like she had been thrown into a freezing cold icebox. 

“So you’re unhappy because you’re marrying Penelope? Lucian, you’ve always wanted to marry Penelope, right?” It was only natural for him to marry Penelope now, Allison didn’t know what she was hoping for, why she felt so sad when she heard Lucian was going to marry Penelope. 

If he married Penelope, what was she? A mistress? 

Her chest felt as if it was stuffed with thick cotton, her fingers clenched and then loosened. Before Lucian could say anything, Allison said, “Congratulations, you finally got what you wanted.” 

Lucian didn’t know why, but seeing Allison at home, in such a warm scene, he wanted to tell her about it. There wasn’t much expression on Allison’s face, and Lucian couldn’t read much emotion from this woman’s face. He felt a bit disappointed. What kind of reaction was he expecting from her? Did he want her to plead with him not to marry Penelope? 

But she just smiled and wished him well. Did this woman not care about him at all? 

Lucian’s fingers pinched her chin, looking at the smile in her eyes, and he was clearly displeased.
