Thalassa’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Lysander. His accusation was clear: he believed she had seen him coming and had deliberately manipulated the stage prop to

Her eagerness to explain wilted under the weight of his suspicion. The disappointment was a heavy, suffocating presence in her chest. 

She met his deep gaze, her brows furrowing slightly as she said, “I was behind the curtain. I couldn’t see anything in the front and I had no idea who’s coming.” 

How could she have known he was there if she couldn’t see? 

Lysander’s gaze was intense and unwavering, his eyes exerting an immense pressure. 

The atmosphere around Thalassa grew tense, the air heavy with unspoken words. 

Susan quickly interjected, “Mr. Sinclair, I’m just relieved you’re alright. Even with my own injuries, knowing you’re safe makes it all bearable.” 

It was only then that everyone noticed Susan was hurt. 

Zane hurried over to check on Susan’s back, which was bleeding profusely. 

With concern, Zane addressed Lysander, “Mr. Sinclair, Susan’s injury looks pretty bad. Can we get her to the hospital first?” 

Only then did Lysander’s piercing stare break away from Thalassa. His voice was cool and detached, “Go ahead.” 

“Alright, I’ll have the staff take her now,” Zane said, helping Susan towards the exit. 

As Susan left, she glanced back at Lysander and Thalassa. 

Thalassa stood her ground, her face pale, the very picture of someone wronged but without the means to defend herself. 

Lysander exuded a chilly aura, his eyes still fixed on Thalassa with evident suspicion and 

mistrust. 

Susan couldn’t help the smug feeling that flickered in her eyes. She had been looking for a way to drive a wedge between Lysander and Thalassa, and this incident was the perfect opportunity. 

Moreover, she had seized it. Not only had she planted the seed of doubt in Lysander’s mind about Thalassa’s intentions, but she had also positioned herself as his savior. Surely, this would make him see her in a new light. 

After all, she was injured in her attempt to save him. It was a worthy sacrifice.

Susan got into the car, and the staff drove her to the hospital.

Thalassa’s clear eyes held nothing back as they met Lysander’s. She had explained everything. She really couldn’t see the front behind the curtain. How could she have known of his arrival, let alone to target him with the prop?
