Zephyr's move was a real stroke of genius, pulling the rug out from under them.

Rosalind couldn't help but feel a secret thrill, though she kept her face neutral.

"It's my fault, really," she said, "I've overworked you. Once we're back, you should just rest."

Lysander didn't say a word, and Rosalind, picking up on the cue, fell silent as well.

Thalassa had already turned down Callum, insisting she didn't need a ride from him. But he was adamant about taking her home.

It was her own fault for not driving today. Thinking she might indulge in a few drinks, she had opted for a cab ride to avoid driving under the influence. Little did she know, this would become Callum's excuse to offer her a ride back.

Sitting in the backseat, Thalassa watched the scenery flash by in reverse through the window.

Callum, behind the wheel, occasionally glanced at her through the rear-view mirror. Noting her melancholic gaze out the window and the furrow in her brow, he said, "It's been three years, but you seem even thinner than before."

His words, floating in the quiet of the car, pulled Thalassa back to the moment. She blinked, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, and replied, "I'm about the same, actually. But you, you've recovered well, looking even more dashing."

"Thanks for the compliment," Callum said, a smile in his eyes. "How are things with you and Lysander?"

"It's... the same," Thalassa replied instinctively, turning her gaze back to the window, reluctant to delve into her relationship with Lysander.

Suddenly, Callum hit the brakes hard, causing Thalassa to lurch forward. She quickly steadied herself against the seat, asking worriedly, "What happened?"

"There's been an accident up ahead. The road's blocked," Callum explained.

Looking ahead, Thalassa saw that a car had hit a pedestrian, who now lay on the ground, while the driver had stopped and was trying to negotiate with the injured party. However, the negotiation wasn't going smoothly, causing a traffic jam.

So, it was Rosalind's car that had hit someone!

Could Lysander be in the car too?

Thalassa's gaze shifted to the front, spotting a sleek black limousine. Lysander had to be in the back seat.

Concerned about his well-being, especially with his already fragile health, Thalassa didn't want any trouble that might hinder his recovery. Having looked after Lysander for three years to help him regain his health, she couldn't afford any setbacks now.

Thalassa opened the car door and stepped out, approaching the woman on the ground. "You say you're injured, right? Then, let's follow the proper procedure. We'll call the police to handle the accident and dial an ambulance to take you to the hospital. These are official numbers; there's no conspiracy."

With that, Thalassa took out her phone, ready to make the call.

"Don't call!" the woman on the ground suddenly stood up, grabbing Thalassa's phone to stop her.
