Lydia, seeing Alaric shake his head, decided not to get up to answer the door.

The doorbell rang for a while and then stopped.

Just as Lydia was about to breathe a sigh of relief, her cell phone buzzed in her pocket.

Checking the caller ID, she saw it was Thalassa calling and quickly answered.

"Lydia, did you swing by Alaric's place to check up on him?" Thalassa's concerned voice came through the phone.

"Yeah, I did. Gave him a shot," Lydia replied.

"Have you left yet?" Thalassa inquired.

"No, still here," Lydia said.

"We're at his doorstep, rang the bell but got no answer," Thalassa explained.

"Oh, that was you ringing? Hold on, I'll come open the door."

Lydia quickly got up and headed for the door.

She had been a bit spooked earlier by Angelina and Georgia, instinctively fearing it might be them again at the door.

Turns out, it was Thalassa.

Opening the door, Lydia saw Thalassa and Hertha standing there. She was briefly surprised but quickly stepped aside, saying, "Come on in."

As Thalassa and Hertha entered, Thalassa asked, "How's Alaric doing?"

"He'll survive. It's just a nasty flu. Not like it's the end of the world," Hertha chimed in.

Alaric, overhearing Hertha's voice, felt a jolt in his heart and excitedly sat up in bed.

Just as he did, footsteps approached closer to the room.

Hertha walked in and saw Alaric with an IV in his arm, lying on the bed, his complexion pale and lifeless.

It was like a scene straight out of a medieval drama, where the hero is struck down by a poison dart, motionless and breathless.

This sight made Hertha's heart clench. She rushed over, gently slapping Alaric's cheek, "Alaric, please be okay. Don't scare me..."

"He's currently..."

"Cough, who's come to see me?" Alaric, hearing Lydia about to spill the beans, quickly coughed, feigning semi-consciousness to keep his act up.

Seeing him groggily open his eyes, Hertha said anxiously, "It's me. You were fine just a few days ago, how did you suddenly get so sick?"

Her words were laden with worry.
