Chapter 418

“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m fine now, mom. Don’t worry.” Thalassa walked over to Evelyn, her hand lightly tracing the curve of her back, aiming to soothe her.

Evelyn knew better than anyone else that Thalassa was just putting up a brave face to keep her from worrying too much.

Evelyn raised her hand to wipe her teary eyes. “As long as you’re okay, that’s enough. Just be careful in the future and don’t get hurt again.”

Then she stood up and headed towards the kitchen, her demeanor somber.

She knew her daughter was struggling, but what could she do? The family depended on Thalassa for their livelihood. Even if she felt heartbroken, could she really do anything to help?

The feeling of helplessness was overwhelming.

Thalassa watched Evelyn’s retreating figure and felt a heartache.

If only she were stronger and more capable, her mother wouldn’t have to bear so much worry and hardship.

“Thalassa, it’s okay. Things will get better.” Hertha comforted her, her hand gently squeezing Thalassa’s thin shoulder. Her lips curved in a comforting

smile.

Hertha had spoken out earlier in defense of Thalassa.

But seeing Evelyn’s disheartened demeanor, Hertha realized why Thalassa was so hesitant to reveal her struggles.

She didn’t want to burden her family with her problems, knowing they couldn’t help her but would only feel more worried.

Even Hertha felt the same, though she felt for Thalassa and defended her, she couldn’t do anything to change the situation.

Their excessive worry only added to Thalassa’s stress.

Thalassa turned to Hertha, her eyes filled with gratitude.

She thanked her for her comforting words, and she believed that things would get better.

The mood in the room was somber. Atticus and Dorian, who had been eagerly hoping to hear Thalassa reveal how she’d gotten hurt, exchanged a glance of silent agreement when they didn’t get an answer.

Atticus: Mom was treated unfairly by Lysander.

Dorian: That’s right.

Atticus: Poor Mom. With her injuries, she still has to work.

Dorian: Yeah, Mom is so pitiful.

Atticus. She must’ve accidentally broken Lysander’s antique worth billions, and he’s bullying her for it.

Dorian: That’s right.

Atticus: We need to find a way to pay Lysander back for Mom, then she won’t be bullied anymore.

Dorian: Let’s find a way!

After their silent agreement, they nodded at each other determinedly.

“Alright, let’s not talk about these unhappy things anymore. Today, Elowen won first place, let’s all cheer up and celebrate for her!” Hertha raised her-voice to lighten the mood.

Thalassa also smiled. “That’s right, Elowen is the best. Today, we should each sing a song for Elawen.”
